About Me
I have 8 years of experience working with children and teenagers through my line of work - I spent 3 years working as an outdoor instructor and have spent time working as a special needs teaching assistant. I currently work in a children’s home for young people with significant mental health, behavioural difficulties and trauma. I have experience in play, childcare, meal preparation, special needs, first aid and speech and language. I thoroughly enjoy working with kids and I get on with every type of child, whether they're perfectly behaved or not, that won't put me off so please don't be worried about your kids giving me a hard time! My Experience
I spent 3 years working as an Outdoor Activities Instructor, working all over the UK providing 5 - 19 year olds with fun, development oriented outdoor activities. I have also worked in Liverpool as a special needs teaching assistant in both a mainstream primary school and then a special needs secondary/high school. From the age of 11, I was looking after my two younger siblings after school until my parents arrived home from work, providing me with experience with Early Years children too. In addition to this, as part of my role as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, I had to carry out personal care for one of the young children I worked with - therefore bathing/dressing children is something I am comfortable with and will provide the utmost professionalism should this be required. I currently work as a residential childcare support worker where I spend 2 days a week working in a children’s home for young people with significant mental health, behavioural difficulties and trauma.
