About Me

Attachment-informed childminder offering a calm, nurturing home environment where children feel safe, confident and ready to thrive

My Experience

Hello, I'm Sandra, an Ofsted-registered childminder based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. I offer childcare for children aged 0–5 years on Thursdays and Fridays in a warm, nurturing home-from-home environment.

As a mother of two young boys, I understand how important it is to find childcare where children feel safe, valued and genuinely cared for. My approach is attachment-informed and child-centred, combining warmth, consistency and clear boundaries to help children develop confidence, independence and emotional security.

My setting is a calm, relaxed family home with a dedicated childminding space on the ground floor and a child-friendly garden where children can play freely throughout the day. I aim to create an environment where children feel secure enough to explore, learn and be themselves. We enjoy a slower pace of life, with plenty of opportunities for imaginative play, reading, music, singing, creative activities and meaningful conversation. Children benefit from small numbers, strong relationships and plenty of individual attention.

I hold a Master's-level teaching qualification from LMU Munich. My studies included English, French and German, alongside educational theory, child development, and the psychology of learning and teaching. I am also currently training as an integrative counsellor, with attachment theory as one of my core modalities. Together, these experiences have given me a strong understanding of children's learning, emotional wellbeing and development, and they continue to shape the way I support the children in my care.

Supporting children's language development and communication is one of my particular strengths. Throughout the day we enjoy stories, nursery rhymes, poems, songs and conversations that help children develop strong communication skills and a love of learning. As a native German speaker, I also naturally incorporate some German into our daily routines and activities, offering children gentle exposure to another language in a fun and natural way.

Healthy eating is important in our home. Meals and snacks are prepared in line with current early years nutritional guidance, with an emphasis on wholesome, home-cooked foods and minimal ultra-processed ingredients.

Every child and family is different, and one of the things I enjoy most about childminding is adapting my care to individual needs and personalities. Whether supporting settling-in, potty training, school readiness, a particular interest, or simply helping a child feel secure and confident, I work closely with parents to provide personalised care and support. Building trusting relationships with families is at the heart of what I do, and I aim to be a dependable and responsive partner in your child's care.

We also enjoy regular outings in the local community, including parks, playgroups, music sessions and nature walks, helping children build confidence, curiosity and a sense of belonging in the world around them.

I accept Tax-Free Childcare and funded childcare entitlements. My current rate is £7 per hour, an an additional 6£ for food if you would like me to provide it.

I offer wrap-around care for Ashby-de-la-zouch Hastings Primary school on a Thursday and Friday, and pick-up only on Monday.

If you're looking for a calm, nurturing setting where your child can build confidence, develop strong relationships and enjoy a rich variety of learning experiences, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
