About Me

I am a shift worker. After my pregnancy (Baby due 10th Dec 2019) and maternity leave I will be going back to work part time in November 2020, and will need a childminder to look after baby. I want to get baby socialised before the time I go back to work, so some adhoc minding before this to ensure baby is settled and the agreement is working out for all involved.

After speaking to my manager and being a shift worker, I need a childminder for Monday and Friday and one day in the middle of the week which may change from week to week. I have two set days of work and one day that isn’t set, if that day was to fall on a weekend then I wouldn’t need a childminder. It’s been hard to negotiate times with work and I know that I previously had on that I wouldn’t need a Friday but that has changed with my manager’s negotiation of set days only if I work the two most popular days that colleagues want off work. The times I would need will depend on how far your location is from where I work, how long it takes to drive to work from dropping my baby off. I’ll give a rough estimate if I start work at 8am in Newcastle then I usually leave home an hour before at 7am (currently I live in Blaydon but that is likely to change in the near future as we’re getting ready to move home to Burnopfield) that time gives time for parking etc and getting to work from locating a parking space in town. I would need someone to start an hour before I start work and an hour after I finish work to give time to finish and collect baby. Rough start times are 7am- 6.30pm that would be a shift on 8am-5.30pm or I could do a later start at 8.30am but that would mean a later finish: shift 8.30am to 6pm meaning I would need a childminder from 7.30am to around 7pm (this might be slightly sooner as the traffic from town wouldn’t be bad as rush hour would have passed by then).
