About Me

I’m a 46 year old qualified primary school teacher and Mum to 2 girls, ages 17 and 12 and have been a joint Carer to our Foster son, with complex disabilities,
now aged 22, living in an independent residential setting. I have been Married for 23 years and we all live together in Hutton with our 7 year old Cat Elsie and 3 year old Dog, Lucy.

I aim to follow as therapeutic parenting style when caring for my own and other's children, building strong connections of trust and laying the foundations for sound emotional literacy. Confidence, reslience and love of learning are all high on the agenda for me when helping to shape a young person.I am a great believer in the early years being a crucial time in life, a window of opportunity to spark their joy and passion for life.

My husband and both have NVQ3’s in health and social care and have been carers to children with complex needs for many years. We have a downstairs bedroom with an high sided, moveable up and down bed and tracking in the bedroom and lounge for children with hoist. We can offer weekend short breaks for young people accepting direct payments. We have a swimming pool in the backgarden to enhance your child’s time with us.

I strive to take children's learning experiences outdoors as much as possible balancing that with their need for routine and the security of home. Reading, songs and singing, oudoor play and adventures, taking your child to groups, messy play, crafts and days out are all activities I can offer. I will be led by you however as to how you would like me to structure your child's day and what works with your routines.

I am experienced and confident with Children who have SEND and will follow care plans and medical instructions maticulously.

If your baby is or toddler is bilingual then signing with them is the perfect way to connect two languages and will help the progress of their speech in both languages and this is something I can offer and help you to learn how to use with them too. Signing is also of huge benefit in the development of speech in babies/toddlers who speak English only. I am happy to use Signs for key words regularly with your child.

I am very interested in mental health and pyschology and am currently studying an MA in counselling psychotherapy at the University of the West of England. My youngest daughter attends a school
in Westbury on Trym so working around this area for the day works really well
for me.
