Live Out Nanny Job in London Borough Of Lewisham
About Me
We are a warm, busy family in Nunhead/Telegraph Hill looking for a mature, kind and confident nanny/family assistant to help care for our three school-aged children: a (very nearly) 5-year-old starting Reception, a 7½-year-old starting Year 3, and an almost-10-year-old starting Year 5.
Our main priority is finding someone who genuinely enjoys being with children and can bring a lovely combination of warmth, calmness and clear boundaries. Our children are lively, affectionate and increasingly independent, so we are not looking for baby or toddler-focused care. We would really value someone who can build a good relationship with them, manage sibling dynamics confidently, keep afternoons running smoothly and be warm and engaged while also being able to say “no” when needed.
The role is five days per week, with wraparound childcare 7.30–9.00am and 2.00–7.30pm, Monday to Friday. Mornings would involve helping everyone get organised, breakfast and the school run. Afternoons would include school pick-ups, taking the children to activities and playdates, preparing dinner, helping with homework/readers where needed and generally keeping the after-school routine calm and organised.
During the school-day hours we would like help with child-related family assistant duties, such as:
children’s laundry and keeping their bedrooms/bathroom reasonably tidy
shopping and errands for the children
organising school bags, uniforms and activity kit
preparing meals for the children
keeping the kitchen and family areas tidy after use
helping organise children’s appointments, activities and practical arrangements
occasional other child-related household tasks that help the week run smoothly
We are both working parents with demanding jobs, so reliability and good organisation really matter to us. Equally, we want this to feel like a happy and respectful working relationship. We had our previous nanny for five years and would ideally love to find someone who becomes a trusted and valued part of family life for the longer term.
A driver is essential as is previous nanny or family-assistant experience.
We are hoping for someone to start relatively soon and would be very happy to speak to candidates who feel this kind of school-age family role would suit them, and who are looking for a longer term position.
