My Summary

My Experience

I have spent this summer working in a summer camp in America for those who have additional needs. Most of the campers I cared for where adults, but I did work with children also. I provided all levels of personal care whilst there also. I have worked within various different school settings, one was a year placement in a reception and year one class. Here I led activities, cared for a small group whilst on trips out, attended specialist groups for specific learning goals. I also volunteered in a school for children with additional needs, spending over a month with children aged between 2-4. Here I learnt about seizures and what to do when one occurs. I learnt about manual handling and also assisted with lunchtimes. I have also volunteered at preschool and afterschool clubs as well as babysitting children in my village also. I know basic Makaton and BSL from this summer, as well as my own experience. Lastly, I have recently spent 3 months as a nanny for two 11-year-old twins, where I helped them throughout the day, doing homeschooling, cooking lunches, going out for walks and bike rides and doing other activities.

My Qualifications

I have recently graduated with a Post Graduate Certificate of Education with a specialism in ages 3 - 7. I also have an undergraduate degree in Press and Editorial Photography.
