About Me
I have been working as a Childminder for twenty two years with the previous experience of being a Nursery Nurse.
I work closely in partnership with parents to gain the best outcomes for your child delivering a more inclusive practice.
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum from a play based approach which is mainly child initiated and adult led.
I provide a purpose allocated playroom which overlooks the large garden full of large play equipment and small outdoor toys, giving children a free flow of both areas to meet their individual needs.
My Experience
I have previously worked in pre schools and schools as a Nursery Nurse. For the last twenty two years I have worked as a childminder from home which I find very rewarding
Some mornings the children are taken into the local community (Library, Learning through play activity mornings, soft play areas, parks, farm, zoo, cinema, museums etc) to access other activities which provide children with the experience needed to support their learning and development in a fuller context.

We first found Maria when our eldest son was 6 months old and were looking for full time childcare. We knew as soon as we met her that she was who were looking for. She made us feel comfortable and at ease, understanding the difficult transition of returning to full time employment after maternity leave. Maria still looks after our eldest son around preschool hours and also looks after our youngest full time, and we couldn't ask for a better childminder. We have complete piece of mind that they are in the best hands with her. She takes the children out every day into the local area and plans afternoon activies to engage and develop them. We receive updates throughout the day so we always know what they've been up to, and she really celebrates their achievements with us. It's not very often you come across someone who is as good at what they do as Maria is. She has and continues to be a fantastic support to our family and we couldn't wish for anyone better to look after our children.

Maria has been childminding my two children for three and a half years. When they started with her they were five and a half months and 4 and a half years old.
Maria has provided excellent care to both of my children from day one and made the transition from being at home with mummy to being with a childminder a very happy experience. Maria provides engaging activities for all children which are always lots of fun and fundamental in their development. Maria has always kept me updated with their day to day progress and made sure I did not miss any stage in their development by sending me pictures. She supported me with the babies routine and through milestones such as weaning, potty training and starting pre school. Maria has a lovely manner with all children in her care. She is kind, calm and patient with them and all children know what is expected of them but above all Maria has a loving, warm and caring approach.
I cannot recommend Maria enough, my children have been extremely happy and contented in her care and she has been an extended part of our family.

Maria has looked after both my boys from age 1 & 2 years until school age.
They had never been looked after by anyone other than family before I found Maria, so I was anxious initially. But Maria made the transition so smooth and my boys were so happy and settled with her from the start. My husband and I could not have been happier and truly believe there is no better childminder around than Maria.
She loves her job and it really shows. Her warm, kind nature and lovely smile make it as easy as it can be to hand your child over for the day, safe in the knowledge that they will be well looked after.
Before I really knew Maria I had seen her in play centres with the children she was minding. Other childminders were sat around chatting, but Maria was always the one who was interacting with her children and constantly watching them and checking their safety.
She has taught my boys in 1 day a week far more than they learnt at preschool the rest of the week. She is patient and encourages them to learn their letters, numbers, phonics etc and makes learning fun. I have no idea how she finds time to do all the lovely craft activities with them as well as taking them out every day to play centres, walks, playgrounds, feeding horses etc.
Maria was born to look after children and your children could not be in safer hands.
We will always be grateful to her for the wonderful love and care she has shown our boys.

I felt like all of my Christmas's had come at once when Maria had a space for my little boy.
As a first time mum with a breastfed, clingy 8 month old I was dreading returning to work and entrusting somebody with my child. I visited every nursery within a 5 mile radius but didn't feel comfortable leaving my baby in any of them. That was when a friend recommended Maria and I'm so glad she did!
From the first time I met Maria everything just felt right. Maria's home is so welcoming and is all about the children; she has a dedicated play room which is bright and and engaging, an array of toys and books for all ages and displays of the childrens work with photographs of things they have done on the walls in addition to a big outdoor play area. She even has a downstairs bathroom which is important when it comes to potty training!
Maria goes above and beyond in her role and didn't bat an eyelid when I said I wanted to settle my boy in gradually over a 2 month period, I was so anxious about leaving him and returning to work as I'd never left him before. With Maria I needn't have worried, she really is like family, she cares so much for your child that any guilt you feel about leaving them disappears. I can't describe how good it feels knowing that my little boy is happy, safe and being cared for whilst I am at work. Plus I get regular texts, pictures and video updates which are so reassuring and make me feel like I am a part of his day.
In addition to the texts during the day we also have a diary where we can read all about his day, from what he has eaten and how long he's slept to what song he enjoyed the most during singing time. I always look forward to reading his diary at the end of the day and looking at the various paintings/crafts/baking that he has brought home.
My little boy absolutely adores Maria, he will happily go to her and gets excited when he sees her, it has been wonderful to see their relationship develop. It is clear that Maria has a really strong bond with all of the children in her care and she knows them all really well. The children's adoration for Maria is a true testament of how much she cares for them.
Maria ensures the children are kept busy and entertained all week. They meet up with other childminders so the children can socialise and do various things such as attend activity group, soft play, farm visits, go to the park/cinema/library etc.
Since my little boy has been going to Maria he has come on leaps and bounds, his communication skills have improved vastly and he has gone from taking the odd step to walking confidently. Maria has definitely played a role in this. He is also getting more adventurous with the foods he eats which I'm sure is due to the variety of nutritious food that Maria offers.
Maria is positive, happy, energetic, down to earth, trustworthy and reliable. I’m certain that being in such a positive and happy environment is helping Shay to develop into a confident and self assured little boy. I really believe that it is rare to find somebody like Maria and would whole heartedly recommended her to anybody.

My son Nathaniel started with Maria in Jan 2004, I had a bad experience with a nursery and a friend recommended Maria, and I am so glad they did. She was great with him, so much so that when my daughter was born I automatically new Maria would be the best childcare provider for her so she went to Maria full time when I went back to work in May 2006. I think Maria is a god send and I have recommended my friends to go to Maria when they have needed childcare.
I think Maria is fantastic because my children are so happy when they are with her, she does great activities with them and she has a great relationship with them. She is a caring, trustworthy and punctual Childminder and she will always go that extra mile for my children. I am always at ease when my children are with her. She sends me regular texts throughout the day so that I know what they are doing. She is as flexible as she possibly can be. Her home and garden are safe and secure and they do fun things such as painting, cooking, gardening, walks to the farm, days out and much more... She makes my children happy and encourages learning with them, and I feel allot of their learned skills come from her.
I would highly recommend Maria to anyone looking for a Childminder.
