Babysitter in Cherwell
My Summary
About Me
Hello, I’m Sarah!
I’m Sarah, originally from Essex but now happily settled in Banbury, Oxfordshire. A few years ago, I made the move to Banbury to be with my fiancé, and his little boy, and it’s become home ever since.
I have over 8½ years of childcare experience and have been lucky enough to work with children and families in lots of different settings. My experience includes working as a nursery practitioner, teaching assistant and one-to-one support worker, as well as taking on more senior roles including Room Leader and Head of SEN within a private nursery.
I’ve worked with a wide range of ages, from little ones as young as 6 months old right through to children aged 12, so I’m comfortable caring for children at different stages and with different personalities, routines and needs. I particularly enjoy getting to know each child individually and making sure they feel happy, safe and comfortable while they’re in my care.
Alongside my childcare background, I currently work full-time for the local council in a customer-focused role. While I love my job, my full-time work commitments mean that I’m mainly available for babysitting on Friday evenings and weekends.
I’m friendly, reliable, patient and genuinely love spending time with children. Whether you need someone for a date night, a special occasion, an evening out or simply an extra pair of hands at the weekend, I’d be more than happy to have a chat and see how I can help.
If you have any questions or would like to know a little more about me and my experience, please feel free to send me a message or email. I’d love to hear from you!
My Experience
My Experience
I have over 8½ years of experience working with children aged 0–12, beginning straight after I completed college at 16. During college, I completed my Level 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development, while gaining hands-on experience in both primary school and nursery settings.
After qualifying, I began working in a nursery where I gained experience across different age groups and took on a variety of responsibilities. I eventually progressed to Room Leader, where I was responsible for the learning, development and wellbeing of around 25–30 children. This involved keeping up to date with each child’s individual progress, planning activities and making sure every child was supported to develop at their own pace.
I later became the nursery’s Lead SENCO, supporting children with additional needs and helping to ensure they received the right support. A particularly valuable part of my experience was providing one-to-one support for a young boy with severe autism and developmental delays, which taught me so much about patience, communication and adapting activities to suit an individual child.
In 2019, I moved to Banbury, Oxfordshire, and worked as a KS1 Teaching Assistant at a primary school in Witney. During this role, I developed a particular interest in interventions and one-to-one support, especially helping children build confidence with numeracy and basic maths skills across Upper KS1 and Lower KS2.
When COVID-19 meant that children were learning from home, I continued supporting children by running twice-weekly Zoom maths sessions. I loved finding ways to make the sessions fun and engaging while still helping children develop their skills and confidence.
I left my teaching assistant role in September 2021 to explore new career opportunities, but my passion for working with children has never gone away.
I feel my varied experience has given me a really good understanding of children at different ages and stages, as well as the importance of creating a safe, happy and supportive environment where children can simply be themselves.
