Hi we are looking for After School Nanny/childcare/babysitter for Our Wonderful Little Girl

St Albans (St Michael’s area) – Start September (July/August intros welcome!)

We’re a busy, fun, welcoming family in St Albans looking for someone lovely to support 7 year old daughter (8 in July). She has a rare genetic condition, autism, ADHD and a mild learning disability — all of which make her wonderfully unique and able to charm anyone she meets. She’s funny full of energy imagination, curiosity and joy, and she thrives with adults who are playful, patient and genuinely enjoy being around children. However because of her needs she requires a high level of 1:1 support to help her stay safe, she can become anxious and her behaviour is more similar to a 4-5 yr old.

Our daughter enjoys lots from crafting, imaginative play, being outdoors, collecting flowers, visiting the park, and going to her little gym class. We’d love to find someone who can be her after school buddy — someone who enjoys joining in with her world and helping her unwind after a busy school day with a snack and supporting her with her reading and writing.

Hours 9-15 hrs a week

• 3 days Ideal Mondays, Tuesday
Or Thursday & Wednesdays
3:00 / 3:10 – 5:30 / 6:30pm
• Optional extras:
• 1–2 evenings of babysitting per month
• 1–2 days per week during school holidays
• Can start in July, but needed 1st September
Minimum 2 days needed and can adjust one of the days above if helpful.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Welcoming our daughter home from school from her taxi with a snack and drink and fun activity.
• playing in our house or Heading to the park, collecting flowers, crafting, or playing in the close or in our garden/hot tub
• Taking her to her weekly gym class or other local activities
• Occasional trips to Willows Farm or the zoo (we have memberships!)
• Gentle playdates with local friends
• Creating a calm, low pressure, supportive space where she can relax and be herself
• Light supervision of her very independent 11 year old brother
• Offering a snack and simple dinner (soup or a roll) before clubs and encouraging our daughter to tidy away toys before dinner.

Also we have a house cat in case anyone is allergic.

Who We’d Love to Meet

• Someone kind, patient, playful and reliable
• Experience with autism, ADHD or SEN is a bonus, but not essential — we can share great advice and access to local training
• Confident supporting a child with lots of energy and a big personality
• A driver with your own car (essential) to take sienna to clubs
• comfortable being at home or being outdoors and active
• Non?smoker (parent has asthma)
• Someone looking for a medium? to long?term role who wants to build a lovely bond with our daughter
