About Me
Hi, I’m a single mum to my daughter Penelope. It’s just the two of us at home and we’re very close. I’m friendly, down-to-earth and easy to get along with, and life tends to revolve around Penelope and keeping our little household going!
Penelope is a lovely, affectionate little girl with additional needs. She is non-verbal and needs more support and supervision than a typically developing child her age, so our day-to-day life can be quite full-on. She has her own personality, preferences and ways of communicating, and once you get to know her, you begin to understand her really well.
I’m very open and straightforward and would always make sure anyone spending time with Penelope understands her routines, communication and care needs properly. We’re a relaxed little household and I’d like anyone coming into our home to feel comfortable and welcome.
My Requirements
I’m looking for a kind, patient and reliable babysitter to spend some time with my daughter, Penelope, who has additional needs.
I’m mainly looking for a little bit of respite support — ideally a couple of hours a week, particularly during the school holidays. I’d like to find someone who can get to know Penelope gradually and build a trusting relationship with her.
Experience with children with additional needs would be a big advantage, although finding someone patient, understanding and willing to get to know Penelope as an individual is most important to me.
Once Penelope is comfortable with you, I’d also love the possibility of occasional evening babysitting, perhaps once a month, so I can have a little time to myself.
I’m flexible with days and times and happy to discuss what works.
