My Summary

My Experience

I have been caring for a five year old boy with a neuromuscular condition, meaning he cannot walk or stand, as well as having respiratory problems, causing him to need a bipap machine daily. My daily duties include breakfast, lunch and dinner preparation and feeding him, carrying out his physical therapy, taking him to medical appointments, carrying out his medical daily requirements including a cough assist and his bipap machine, engaging play time and teaching him when possible. Over this time, we have been able to achieve outstanding results with his physical therapy, and help battle his anxiety due to his condition. I have grown very fond of my job, and have found it very rewarding. I am his primary carer as well as his mother. This job has taught me a whole new chapter of childcare, helping me gain experience in a part of this field, which i had no previous experience in. I worked at Apple Daycare, which is an ofsted rated outstanding nursery. It is ages ranged 6 months to 5 years. I worked in a team to create a safe environment and strived to keep the safeguarding regulations of a nursery. I was in charge of key children and was able to see their progression and give them new goals for their next steps. I was also often in charge of preparing meals and snacks for them, which were always healthy with hidden vegetables and nutrition. During a normal day at Apple Daycare, as a team we would interact with the children and use toys and books to extend their basic knowledge of shapes and colour, numbers and letters. It was a very active job, that required being on the ball and alert at all times to ensure the safety of all the babies and toddlers. I also babysit my cousins (4 and 7 years old, one being mildly autistic) on occasions, and have previously babysat other family/ friends children. Due to my previous experience in a nursery I am able to teach children basic knowledge, for example letters, numbers, shapes and colours. I can also help children with their homework if they need it. I have listed my GCSE results below. I am able to cook for the children on a daily basis if needed, and will be able to do so according to dietary requirements and any allergies. I would also be able to do any house work if needed, cleaning, washing clothes, vacuum cleaning, doing the dishes etc. If you require help for a newborn or baby, I have experience in the nursery from ages 6 months onwards and have previously helped babysit newborns so I will be comfortable looking after them as well.
