About Me
I'm a widow and single mum to three boys at school in Loughborough, and I work 18 hours a week.
My Requirements
I'm looking for a babysitter to care for three older boys (10-13) one or two evenings a week during term time, and perhaps more during school holidays. My boys will flourish with structured activities and clear and consistent expectations. They easily default to playing on screens and watching YouTube, but with encouragement enjoy craft, cooking, trips out, physical play (outside), playing games, imaginative play, reading etc. They are all neurodiverse. They are very affectionate with each other and love to play together, but need a calm, guiding authority, and occasional conflict resolution. My youngest finds it difficult to accept new people into our home, so building the relationship with him around his interests is key, so that he feels at ease. This takes time and attention. I mostly work from home, so childcare hours do not need to fit exactly with my working hours during school holidays (Mon-Weds 6hr/day) but will allow me some freedom to get out without kids, or to spend time with kids individually, as well as varying kids' activities away from screens. Thursday and Sunday evenings are most useful. If you can cook us a meal, that is an advantage, as well as helping with household tasks as needed.

Sophiea has been looking after my three boys aged 11-14 once or twice a week for a year now. She has worked hard to build and maintain a good relationship with my youngest, who is autistic and has been out of school for this whole period. When he needed someone who would not make demands of him, Sophiea worked very well with him to find things that interested him and to go at his pace. She never forced herself on him and this was the secret of building and maintaining a relationship of happiness and trust. Sophiea has taken my older two boys out on trips in the car to do activities they enjoy when I was unable to do so because of the youngest's anxiety. She is always punctual and reliable, and communicates well about her availability etc. She is very willing to have a go at anything I ask her to do and I enjoy working with her and having her in my home. She has cooked meals for us, looked after kids while I was working from home or out, and looked after my boys in the evening while I have been out. She enjoys working with children and this is clear in that she has a positive attitude when she comes to see us. I hope she can continue to stay involved with our family.

Melvina has recently started looking after my three boys aged 8-11 one afternoon/evening a week. She picks up from school. She is very competent, calm and fun for the boys to be with. She is happy to be in charge of the boys, but also happy to follow my lead if there is something I want to do with them. My boys have some additional needs but mealtimes when Melvina has been there have definitely gone more smoothly than usual. I am only sorry she can't stay with us for longer...
