My Summary
About Me
About Me – Whitney at Owlets Childcare
Hello, I’m Whitney, an Ofsted-registered childminder with an Ofsted rating of Good.
I have 19 years of experience and training in childcare, and being a mum to four wonderful children has given me even more experience and understanding of children’s individual needs. My children are Chloe, 19, Leah, 17, Noah, 13, and Olivia, 11.
I’m also getting married next year to my fiancé, Andrew, who is a heating engineer.
All adults within our household are DBS checked and registered on the DBS Update Service, helping to ensure a safe and secure environment for the children in our care.
We are a happy, loving family who enjoy lots of fun, laughter and spending time outdoors. At Owlets Childcare, I aim to create a warm, welcoming and nurturing home-from-home environment where children can learn, explore, have fun and grow in confidence.
Our Home & Setting
We are very lucky to have a lovely, spacious home in a beautiful area, providing a warm, welcoming and homely environment for children to learn, play and grow. I absolutely love our home and feel incredibly fortunate to have brought up my own children here.
We have lots of space for children to explore, play and enjoy a wide range of activities, both indoors and outdoors. My aim is to create a home-from-home environment where every child feels safe, happy, valued and cared for.
Meet Solo & Leo
Our Animals
Solo is our miniature French Bulldog, who is 16 weeks old and currently undergoing training. Solo absolutely loves being around the children, and we use his time with us as an opportunity to teach the children about kindness, responsibility, respect and how to care for animals.
Solo only spends short periods of time with the children throughout the day and is always closely supervised. The children love having him around, and Solo particularly enjoys sitting calmly and listening during story time. He also enjoys playing outside, running around and interacting with the children during outdoor play.
Solo will never be left unsupervised or alone with any child. His interactions with the children are carefully managed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both the children and Solo.
Leo is our three-year-old tortoise. On occasions, Leo comes out of his enclosure so the children can calmly sit nearby and observe him. This gives us a wonderful opportunity to talk to the children about tortoises, animals, their needs and how we can care for them respectfully. We encourage the children to be calm, gentle and considerate when observing Leo.
A Little More About Us
I’m supported by two wonderful assistants, allowing us to provide a fun, engaging and nurturing environment for the children in our care
Our childcare assistants are highly trained, qualified and passionate about providing the best possible care and experiences for the children. They bring enthusiasm and creativity to every day and enjoy planning a wide range of fun, engaging and educational activities that support each child's individual development.
We believe that structure and routine are important, while also allowing plenty of opportunities for children to explore, play, be creative and follow their own interests.
At Owlets, we aim to provide a warm, loving and homely environment where every child feels safe, supported and valued. We work closely with each child to understand their individual abilities, interests and needs, ensuring that they are given the right support and encouragement to develop their confidence and independence.
Our aim is to help every child build the skills they need to take their next big step into big school, while making sure they enjoy their time with us, create wonderful memories and feel proud of everything they achieve.
I believe children learn best when they feel happy, secure and confident. I love creating opportunities for children to explore their interests, develop new skills, make friends and, most importantly, have lots of fun along the way!
If you’re looking for a warm, caring, home-from-home childcare setting where your little one will be treated as part of the family, I’d love to hear from you.
