About Me
Hi, I'm Sophie. I've been a registered childminder for over 19 years and have worked in childcare for 31 years. I've been a mum for 34 years and have brought up a large family although my daughters are all grown up now. Two of my daughters are students and sometimes stay with me when home from University. We also have 2 pet cats who are friendly, gentle and very popular with the minded children. I'm also a Gran to two little ones.
I provide professional, home based care in a warm, nurturing environment where children can learn, grow and develop. Due to smaller numbers, I'm able to give a high level of individual care. I have a large playroom with a wide range of toys and activities tailored to meet your child's stage of development and interests. I have an enclosed garden for outdoor play and live close to Overtoun park. I do lots of walking and ensure the children have plenty of access to the outdoors. We usually attend lots of activities in the local community such as playgroup, Toddling Tots and Bookbug. There is always plenty to keep the children busy at home, in the garden, at the park and green spaces. Currently we are in the park once a week for outdoor play and picture hunts, Bookbug once a week and attend playgroup once a week. When not outdoors the kids enjoy craft activities such as painting, play dough and kinetic sand. My home is ideally located near to Rutherglen Primary Care Centre and makes an easy drop off point whether you work in South Lanarkshire, Glasgow or further afield.
My Experience
I have been registered with the Care Inspectorate since 2008. At my latest Inspection my service was given 5's (very good). I am a registered member of the Scottish Childminding Association and am fully insured with them. I am a member of the PVG scheme and have Enhanced Disclosure.
I've provided childcare for a number of families since 2008 which has been incredibly rewarding. I'm able to give the children more individual care than a nursery and the children are able to develop secure attachments to their carer and make positive friendships with other minded children. Many of the children I have cared for have joined my service as babies and I've continued to care for them for several years .

My Availability
My service is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Open from 8am to 5pm. I provide care for children from birth to 3. Minimum 2 days per week for continuity.
I'm happy to discuss term time only childcare.
My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
Fees from £6.00 per hour. This includes a healthy lunch and 2 snacks.

Sophie is a brilliant, caring and reliable childminder. My child loved being in her care and felt very happy and confident. She grew leaps and bounds in her development and speech whilst there. Sophie provides a very nurturing environment and always provided us with lots of feedback about our child's day. She helped us establish and support a consistent routine and she is very easy to communicate with. We were able to go to work confident in the knowledge our child was safe, well cared for and would be having a lovely day.
