My Requirements

Trying to find some support during school hours as our 11 year old son is out of education awaiting a placement at an SEMH school or alternative provision.

Ideally we would like someone who could be available 9 am to 3 pm on Mondays and Fridays, but hours may change if we are offered a school or AP and we may shift to needing after school nannying, although our focus right now is day time support and we are happy to take on someone on a temporary basis and figure out the rest later. Alternatively we could also offer after school hours on Tuesday to Thursday (3.30-5.30) if that worked around your commitments.

It is likely that either my partner or I will be working at home upstairs so could be available if needed in a crisis. Once we got to know you we’d also consider you looking after our son at your home if that was something you felt comfortable with.

Our son has some challenging behaviours and can become dysregulated, but he responds to a loving and child-focused approach, and to safe, consistent boundaries. He is imaginative, kind and very caring towards his sister and when calm, he is sociable, and eager to please. He enjoys the company of adults and likes to play with other children, although he can struggle with transitions. We adopted both our children and they had a difficult start in life and were not always provided with the care and attention they needed, much of our son’s difficulties stem from attachment trauma. SEND experience would be helpful but if the right person lacked experience but was empathetic, resilient and understanding of trauma we would be open to considering them.

We have a small dog who barks at new people but she is very gentle and affectionate once you become a trusted visitor. I can keep her upstairs with me if she is being a nuisance until she gets to know you.
