Looking For A Part-Time Nanny Including Two Weekday Overnights
About Me
I am a mum to three lovely, happy, bright and energetic young children, 9, 6 & 5. I work full time including being away from home during the week. We live in Poxwell between Dorchester and Weymouth. Our life is busy and full of activity. Things that are really important to me as a parent, are consistency, providing a loving and supportive place where the children can share their thoughts and feelings and giving them opportunity to learn and explore. We are also huge fans of the outdoors and have the benefit of a lovely garden.
My Requirements
I am looking for a nanny to provide care from 4.30am Tuesday mornings - Wednesday evening 9pm excluding school attendance times when all three attend schools locally. (I am presuming an overnight stay on Mondays when I am still at home). Due to our location I need a nanny who can drive and has a vehicle that can carry all of the children. This will be the first time I have had to consider overnight care by someone outside of the family and I realise this will be a huge thing to consider for both myself, the children and the potential nanny, to ensure it is right for all.

We employed Lyn as a full time nanny 8am-5/6pm Monday-Friday for two years 2020-2022. At the time we had three children aged 5 and under, one being in her care alongside mum from birth. Lyn's duties included personal care for the children, washing, dressing, preparing meals and feeding as well as developmental support with school reading, education through play and social outings.
The weekly routine included toddler groups, preschool and school attendance/drop off and pick up, day trips and activities, indoor and outdoor play at home, crafting etc.
Lyn was extremely reliable and committed and she loved the children. Lyn's manner is very patient and she adapts to situations very quickly, not over-complicating arrangements that often need to change around the children, and she was always very flexible with her hours around our needs.
With the children Lyn had a firm and fair approach, helping with suggestions on behaviour management for the tough times! Lyn encourages independence and provides emotional and physical comfort when needed and quickly identified and complimented our parenting style to give the children consistency, which was very important for us.
The children enjoyed being with her and have sorely missed her since she left as they moved on to school settings. We always felt the children were safe and attended to in her care. Lyn built positive relationships with not only the children but also our neighbours and grandparents and had a skill at knowing when to take charge and when to hold back and defer to parents or other family, both in terms of discipline and allowing quality time with the children for visitors.
Lyn accepted our family, values, methods of parenting and house exactly as she found it and did not try to change what we were doing but instead committed to supporting it with gentle guidance. We found it reassuring to have another set of eyes, hands and ideas to help us raise our children through the very early years of having three, and in an extremely busy household with the pressure of full-time work for both parents.
We could not have done this successfully without the reliability and flexibility that Lyn offered and we are eternally grateful that we found this support through what was such a challenging time.
