About Me

Hello, my name is Diana and I am a qualified early years teacher who now works as a nanny. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience promoting the education and wellbeing of children in my care. This includes expertise in all phases of phonics, EYFS, safeguarding, and special educational needs.

I have over 6 years experience working as a nanny in private households and recently completed a two year weekend role for a family in Oxshott, which unfortunately ended because they relocated to Rome. In this role I was trusted with full proxy-parenting care from Saturday morning to Sunday evening,starting when the youngest child was just 1 year old. I also made myself available for Friday overnight care when it was required, which was greatly appreciated by the family, as I was always able to ensure seamless, dependable weekend support.

Whilst I absolutely loved teaching, one of the advantages of being a nanny is the freedom that comes with the job and being able to spend one to one time with the children. It means that I can plan our days with the children in mind and focus on activities that will benefit them the most. In the holidays, I like to get them out of the house every day. We go on bike rides, make dens in the woods, play football in the park, and visit different attractions – some of our favourites are Bushy park, Claremont gardens and Hampton Court, but truthfully we have just as much fun heading out to the local playground or woods.

My mind is very much geared to pick up on where children are in the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and I am able to include simple tasks in our day that will help improve the gross and fine motor skills of the children, as well as their communication and language, and social and emotional development.

Crafts are a great way of developing fine motor skills and when I was teaching I used to enjoy planning large art projects for the children to do, and we were always getting messy and creative. I have two young grand daughters and a box, is never just a box, to us! We also play a lot of games and have fun reading stories and dancing around together!

Over the last few years I have learnt a lot about nutrition and ways in which I can help children form a good relationship with food. I like to keep meals simple, as time can be stretched in the evenings, but they are always nutritious and yummy. If the children are not enjoying particular vegetables or food I will do what I can to make them more appetising - which has worked well so far! I also think its very beneficial for the children to be involved in preparing meals and baking, if that is something that they enjoy.

My favourite thing to do is to spend time with my two grand daughters who are 3 and 6. I also like to read and keep fit and active.
