About Me
I am an Ofsted registered childminder rated ‘Good’ in my last inspection in February 2023, and mum of 3. I live with my husband in a small village outside of Hertford. We live in a quiet cul-de-sac and are able to use the space for playing outside with careful supervision, as well as having a good sized garden. We also have multiple indoor resources and separate playroom. We have a small dog who adores children, and loves to do tricks for them and play fetch in the garden. We have beautiful countryside on our doorstep, an allotment which the children visit to learn about how we grow food, and do regular walks and nature trails to see the changing seasons and learn about the world first hand. We also visit playgroups, Willows Farm and rhyme time sessions to help the children get used to group settings. I drop off and collect from Hertingfordbury Cowper Primary School.
My Experience
I have 3 children of my own (which gives the most first hand experience with childcare!), but my childcare experience dates back to when, in my teens, I was an incredibly busy babysitter and Mother's Help for 22 families who I knew through our Church in North London. This then got placed on the backburner until I had gained my Cache level 3 childcare qualification, and we lived in the right place to create a lovely childcare setting.
My Qualifications
Pacey Cache Level 3 childcare, Paediatric First Aid trained with the British Red Cross. Regular webinars and online training programs to keep me up to speed and further my training in child development and safeguarding.
My Availability
My opening hours are 7.30-17.30 Mondays to Thursdays term time in line with Hertfordshire County Council term dates.
My Fees
- Childminding from £7.50 per hour

I have used Ruth for nearly a year now, she is the most kind hearted wonderful childminder. Her childminding space is so spacious with a great outdoors area. My daughter is constantly telling me stories of play or places that have visited, the dog walks they have done, the snacks they have had! Ruth really does a wonderful job and is always so caring towards myself and my daughter. Ruth always communicates with me whenever needed and goes above and beyond with meeting my needs.

Ruth cared for our son from the age of 10 months until he started preschool at 3½, and we couldn’t have asked for a better childminder. Her knowledge, professionalism, and genuine care truly stood out from the start. She strikes a perfect balance between warmth and discipline, creating a nurturing yet structured environment where children can thrive.
She regularly organised outings to places like Willows Farm, as well as local parks and playgroups, giving the children plenty of opportunities to learn and explore. Ruth also guided us through key milestones—most notably leading the way with potty training when our son was ready, which made a huge difference for us.
We’re incredibly grateful for everything she’s done and would wholeheartedly recommend her.

I’ve never used another childminder so I can’t compare, but I wouldn’t ever want to. Ruth has been the biggest help to our family we could have ever asked for.
Not only does she do the hours we pay for her to look after both our children at different times at different ages, she has been a friend for advice with all the regressions/progressions (her explanation)
We love her and are so happy her and her family have been part of our children’s lives while growing into school children.

Ruth looked after our little girl and she was absolutely amazing! She regularly took pictures and sent it to us (which literally made my day and put me at ease) and always updated us on how our girl was getting on. There was a period when our girl went through separation anxiety and Ruth literally sat beside her till she felt better. Ruth is so energetic and takes the kids out regularly and also serves them really healthy and hearty food. She’s also got a beautiful home with lots of space for the kids to run around and play. We’re gutted we had to move our girl to another childminder, we only done it as we moved houses, otherwise we would have loved her to stay with Ruth. Can’t recommend her enough.

Ruth is such a kind, caring and wonderful childminder. She cares for my two sons as wrap around care from school and 15 month old daughter 3 days a week. A lovely setting in the beautiful Birch Green with convenient pick up from Hertingfordbury school. Ruth has a great way with kids, is firm but fair and always has a happy house. They do lots of crafts, puzzles, games and reading, when they’re not enjoying the fantastic garden and outdoor space. Ruth is so trustworthy, it’s a real relief to have found such excellent, quality care.
