About Me
Welcome! We're a friendly little family of four plus a cat who has lived in Benton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne over the last 2 years. Julia is half Danish and half American, but moved to the UK about nearly 20 years ago and basically considers herself English at this point but Julia's accent may return if you're from North America. Mark was born and raised in London by immigrant Filipino parents. We have lived in Oxford, London, Southampton and now... Newcastle! In the house, we speak mostly English and a bit of Danish.
In terms of hobbies, Julia loves to do nail art, Mark loves playing the piano and cycling and Theo loves balls, things with wheels and music. Essie loves music and dancing. We all love to sing! And we go to Catholic mass every Sunday (which you're welcome to join or not as you wish!). Our cat is named Yorkie, a big fluffy chocolate cat who is shy but loves food and pats.
My Requirements
We understand that as a nanny, you don't work full time and you might be ill or need holiday (you will have 28 days of paid holiday per year, including bank holidays). Therefore, Theo attends after school club until 5.20pm and Essie is in nursery on the days that Julia works. So the essentials are covered.
If you choose to work for us, we ask that you pick up and care for Theo and Essie 5 evenings per week (Monday-Friday from 5pm-8pm), 5 morning school/nursery drop offs by foot (Monday-Friday 8-9am). That totals a minimum of 20 hours.
If you are available, we would also like it if you could care for 2 afternoons per week (Tuesday & Thursday 2:30pm-5pm). That totals to 25 hours per week.
On weekdays your responsibilities will be to look after the children, cook dinner, clean up after dinner (we do have a dishwasher), and put the kids to bed. We're a bit flexible about who cooks when, but it is important to us that you can help with the family meals.
We have a full childcare agreement with more in depth information, which you can message us to get a copy of. We require a minimum of 1 year of experience with childcare and a DBS.
We are seeking someone to live in or live out. If you choose to live in, you will have your own spacious bedroom (13.5 square metres), furnished with a double bed, a large bay window, a desk, two bookshelves, and a small wardrobe. We have a bathroom, a shower room, and a downstairs toilet that we will share. Your room will be lockable for your privacy. We get groceries delivered weekly, which would be included, but we would deduct a £70 accommodation offset (as advised on the government website) from your salary to cover the cost of bills, groceries, etc.
