A patient, relaxed and discreet night nanny and maternity nurse who loves working with families and young children. Experienced with all ages but specialises in newborns. Both single babies and twins. Allergy, reflux and colic is an area that I have lots of experience in helping to navigate.
I love to help parents navigate life with their new additions and be there to support them. I am a very flexible person who is happy to jump in and roll with life and the things it brings. I usually favour a structured but flexible baby led routine, though I am more than happy to talk to parents and work with the family to find an approach that best fits their way of life.
I believe it is essential to keep my skills up to date and regularly sign myself up to training courses as I love to develop my skills, as you can see from the courses I have completed below.
I live near the Cambridge/Essex/Herts border with my partner and stepson. We love being outside and active and we are often found disappearing at weekends to hillier places in the UK to explore, climb, paddle and walk.
I happily work all over Essex, Cambridgeshire and Herts and into North and Central London and for 24 hour work I will travel all over

My Experience
I specialise in newborn care and have my postnatal maternity nurse training at level 4, backed by 25 years of practical childcare experience. This has allowed me to specialise in working with parents and their newborns helping them to understand each other and get into a good routine.
I have been lucky enough to have worked with single babies, lots of twins, breastfed and formula fed babies, single parents and same sex parents. I have experience working alongside parents with anxiety, OCD and postnatal depression. As well as working with babies who have extra medical needs such as Downs syndrome, CMPA, Stridor, Laryngomalacia, Reflux and Jaundice. I have supported families while travelling abroad, worked in fully staffed houses and small family homes so am comfortable in all situations
I have always loved working with babies and this has been my main focus throughout my long career.

We were lucky enough to work with Emily ah hoc across several months with our baby from when she was 5 months to 10 months old.
Emily is the sort of carer that we felt instantly at ease when she came in. Her wealth of experience meant we felt fully comfortable having her care for our little one, and our baby was almost instantly comfortable with her. It was helpful hearing her insight into different topics as well.
She was great with our toddler as well as our baby.
She had a calm presence and seamlessly fit into our lives and schedule.
I'd highly recommend Emily to anyone!

We have hired Emily three times: to help us with our two children when each were at the newborn stage, and also to troubleshoot some issues my son was having transitioning to taking a bottle.
Our motivation on hiring her initially was to bring someone in to support us in the early days, to give us some much-needed rest in the night, and crucially, to teach us what you're meant to do with a baby! It is not an exaggeration to say that it was one of the best things we've ever done (and were I tempted to have any more children, I'd be asking her back again each time). Emily's wealth of experience translates to a calm, knowledgeable and reassuring presence in your home. She helped us to build up our own confidence in understanding our babies needs, and also gave us invaluable insight into how to settle them into age-appropriate routines. Without her, we would have been overwhelmed by the conflicting advice that is out there, and rather could lean on her expertise to do what was right for our children, given that babies are not one-size-fits-all. Even though we knew the ropes by the time my second came, it was very helpful to have her there given our daughter was a bit early and so Emily was able to guide us through things that were a little different with smaller babies.
Emily is very easy to get on with, and fit seemlessly into our home. She is wonderful with children - both babies and older ones. If you work with her, you'll benefit from someone who is a natural at their job, with a deep reservoir of experience and understanding of children. I wouldn't hesitate to hire her.
