Private Tutor in London: Haringey
My Summary
About Me
I’m Joe, an experienced SEN educator with over 10 years’ experience working with young people with additional needs, including extensive experience supporting autistic young people and those with complex and highly specific needs.
I provide 1:1 tuition from KS1/KS2 through to GCSE, including Entry Level and Functional Skills English and Maths. I particularly enjoy working with young people who may have found traditional education difficult, creating a supportive and encouraging environment where they can feel comfortable, understood and able to learn.
I take a holistic approach to education, getting to know each young person as an individual and understanding their strengths, interests, communication style and the things that may make learning more difficult for them. I believe patience, empathy and trust are an important part of helping a young person feel confident enough to engage and make progress.
I adapt my approach to suit the young person, while maintaining clear educational goals. Alongside academic learning, I support communication, confidence, independence and wider preparation for adulthood. I also work closely with families and other professionals and have experience contributing to EHCPs, annual reviews and transition planning.
I have particular experience supporting autistic young people and those with PDA-type profiles. Alongside SEN education, I have a background in Music teaching and around 20 years’ experience as a musician and music producer, which can provide another engaging and creative route into learning.
I’m calm, patient, supportive and understanding, and I’m comfortable adapting when something isn’t working. My aim is for young people to feel genuinely understood and supported, while helping them recognise their strengths, develop their confidence and become increasingly independent.
