Ruth M
Childminder in London: Croydon
My Summary
About Me
I am Ruth. I moved to Coulsdon in 2024 having started my childminding career in Carshalton. I live with my husband Andy and my 2 school aged children.
I provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where your child can feel happy, secure and valued. I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework to carefully support and enhance your child’s individual development and learning journey.
With a background as a primary school teacher, I have a strong understanding of how children learn and how to create engaging opportunities that foster curiosity, confidence and independence.
Each week, we explore an exciting theme, with a wide range of carefully planned activities including role play, stories and songs, messy play, arts and crafts, STEM experiences, and fine motor skill development. We enjoy daily outings to playgroups and singing sessions, as well as regular visits to parks, playgrounds, libraries and National Trust properties, giving children rich opportunities to explore and learn from the world around them.
I am passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and providing nutritious, balanced meals. I prepare as much food as possible from scratch and actively involve the children in cooking, shopping, meal planning, serving food and tidying up — helping them to develop valuable life skills alongside a positive relationship with food.

We have sent out little daughter to Ruth at the age of 1, and we are so happy with our choice! It is clear Ruth is passionate about her work and we feel she really cares about and enjoys being with our girl (as do the other children). We feel our daughter is very safe there!
She sends us lots of pics and updates about their activities (including social, sensory and other fun things) related to a weekly theme. Any time we’ve contacted her she’s been very quick to respond.
The food she makes is great - our daughter has tried lots of new foods I’ve not even thought to make and loves it. I think she usually hits 5 fruit/veg by lunch at the latest :)
Highly recommend!

Ruth was our family's first experience of a childminder setting and we have been really happy with the care she's provided our 3 year old, over his 2 years in her care. We're sad to be leaving and are only doing so as she's moving out of the area.
Ruth is a fantastic, passionate cook and goes out of her way to make sure our son ate a healthy, balanced diet whilst learning how to help prepare and enjoy food at the same time! Ruth keeps the kids busy, attending local playgroups and Library Rhyme times on a weekly basis whilst also organising other great trips like visiting local parks and playgrounds each day as a minimum. They often venture out further afield like to visit Father Christmas in December and the local Ecology Centre to explore the nature trails.
Ruth promotes a creative learning environment, setting up lots of different activities which are based on a weekly theme or development idea. The variation in activities she undertakes is great and really encouraged our son to try different things and learn as much as he could.
Most important to us, our son was so happy to arrive at Ruth's every day and we have seen his personality thrive in her care. It really felt like he was an extension of her family and we will all miss her!
