About Me

I absolutely love working with children, and have done for 11 years now within nursery settings. I am very outgoing and love to meet new people and to take on new challenges and adventures. I am level 3 qualified, and with a full UK driving licence. I am very trusting and reliable, and a great time keeper! I am first aid trained, and have completed lots of other training for example food and hygiene, safeguarding, health and safety, special Educational Needs, and I'm also on the DBS update service. I have worked as a nursery SENCO for 5.5 years, and have personally supported children with Autism, and global delay on enhanced ratios, working towards focuses set by external professionals.

My Experience

I have 11 years’ experience within the childcare and early years sector, developing extensive knowledge of children’s development, wellbeing, safeguarding and the EYFS. For the past 5.5 years, I have worked as a Preschool Room Leader and Nursery SENCO, taking responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and management of the Preschool room and ensuring children receive high-quality care, education and development opportunities in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment. As Room Leader, I lead, support and motivate a team of practitioners, delegate responsibilities effectively, provide guidance and mentoring, and promote a positive and collaborative working environment. I oversee the planning and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate activities based on children’s individual interests, abilities and developmental needs, while ensuring observations, assessments and next steps are completed effectively to support progress and school readiness. I maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour management and inclusive practice, while monitoring the quality of provision and identifying areas for continuous improvement. As Nursery SENCO, I have responsibility for identifying and supporting children with additional needs, working closely with key persons and the wider team to implement appropriate strategies, interventions and individualised support plans. I monitor children’s progress, advocate for their individual needs and ensure all children are fully included within the nursery environment. I build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers, ensuring they are actively involved in their child’s development and support, and I liaise with external professionals and other agencies where appropriate to contribute to referrals, meetings and support plans. Prior to my current role, I also worked for 3 years as a nanny for twin children with autism, supporting them from the ages of 11 to 14. This role required a highly individualised, patient and adaptable approach, with a strong focus on supporting their emotional wellbeing, independence, communication, routines and social development. I worked closely with their family to provide consistent, structured and nurturing care, adapting activities and approaches to meet their individual needs and strengths. This experience significantly strengthened my understanding of autism and additional needs, as well as my skills in communication, behaviour support, problem-solving, organisation and advocacy. Throughout my career, I have developed strong leadership, communication, organisation and decision-making skills, and I pride myself on leading by example, supporting colleagues to develop their practice and creating environments where children feel valued, safe, confident and empowered to reach their full potential. I am passionate about continuous professional development and enjoy undertaking further training and learning opportunities to expand my knowledge, strengthen my leadership skills and continually improve the quality of care and support I provide.
