My Summary
About Me
Hello Parents & Carers.
My name is Téa,
I have 9+ years experience looking after children from birth to 12 years of age.
I currently work part time at a local nursery. I am a Senior member of staff and the toddler room leader.
I am also the Nurseries SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator).
I am a kind, well mannered, bubbly and enthusiastic Nanny & Practitioner. I love my career, spending my time with babies, young children & families. Making a positive impact is what makes my role so rewarding.
I am a very active person both outside of work and as a Nanny & Practitioner. I believe it is very important to encourage children to explore and learn about their surroundings.
I do this by encouraging outdoor play such as implementing Forest School - teaching children the fundamentals of outdoor play and nature. Visiting Museums & trips to local parks. (Free activities where possible when on a tight budget) And also local sensory play groups to enhance peer interaction.
When indoors with children I like to read, play music & sing songs. I also encourage messy play where possible (this is done within the confines of a messy tray etc to ensure the mess stays in one easily cleanable place.) This can include skin safe paints, home-made playdough, sand, and other safe but textured sensory experiences like playing with food. Depending on the age of the children I’m caring for I also like to “DO” simple interactive scientific experiments that can educate the children while having fun. Such as home made volcanos & home made water, oil & paint lava lamps.
I really enjoy cooking. I can cook a wide variety of meals from scratch, some of my favourites are a roast dinner, vegetarian friendly spaghetti Bolognese and cottage pie are just a few of the many meals I regularly cook. I can also bake on a fairly basic level. Cupcakes, buns etc. These are fun for getting older children involved in the safe parts of the cooking process. I believe a hands-on learning approach is very beneficial for the development of all children.
I have a very good understanding of weaning and knowing what, when and how to introduce new foods to a baby's diet.
My role as a Nanny is to complement and support the family dynamic and if you would like things done in a certain way I’m more than happy to oblige. I like to encourage setting boundaries, teaching manners and showing young children how to show respect of their home, belongings and the people around them.
My Experience
I have 9+ years experience looking after children from birth to 12 years of age.
I currently work part time at a local nursery. I am a Senior member of staff and the toddler room leader.
I am also the Nurseries SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator).
As SENCo for many years I have and still work with young children with autism and ADHD. Carrying out activities and observations on their development. Providing strategies to parents/carers. Working in partnership with outside professionals and agencies to offer the best support to meet the child's needs.
I have also cared for children outside of the nursery setting. Nannying for families of 4+ children, including young adults.
I have worked for a private care team, supporting the elderly and infirm. Cooking meals and cleaning their homes.
I have many years of newborn experience. I am educated on how to care and support their needs and the mother needs. I like to see myself as nurturing, supportive and affectionate.
