My Summary

My Experience

I have around 30 years experience of working with children in mainstream primary schools, and also evening / holiday work with children with disabilities - mostly on the autistic spectrum. I successfully tutored a friend's boy from the age of about 8 who has a mild autistic spectrum disorder, and struggled to follow mainstream class lessons. He has now passed his GCSE maths and is studying archaeology at university.

Having worked alongside teachers in a variety of schools, I am confident in tutoring most subjects at primary age, including Maths, English, Science and I.T.

I also have some experience of using British sign language, and good working knowledge of Makaton signs and symbols, which are now used successfully in many schools and residential homes. I can offer support to parents and carers thinking of introducing signs / symbols to those they care for.

NNEB diploma in childcare
City and Guilds Radio Amateurs Examination
Makaton levels 1-4

My Availability

Can be available most afternoons, evenings and Saturdays by arrangement
