About Me
I am 20 years old. Growing up, I wanted to be a teacher; however, having worked in a school, I think I would like to try something different. I studied Photography at college and a have passion for taking pictures. I would describe myself as a creative person and love to do anything involving art. I love to spend time with friends and family. I am a homey person, who enjoys a nice night in with some good food and a good film. I've grown up in a large family and family time is something I value. Growing up, my parents were foster carers, so I have always understood the importance of confidentiality in young people. Also, I am an adaptable person who is willing to give anything a go. I like to try new things and take myself out of my comfort zone. I am interested in this career because I am someone who likes to challenge myself. I have worked with children in a school environment and youth club environment, now I would like to work in a more personal environment. I enjoy working with children and have experience with ages from 6-17 years old. Finally, I like to have fun and make the most of my days and I hope I can do the same with your children too.
My Experience
I worked at a youth club from November 2018 to March 2020, where I would have to plan and deliver youth sessions that not only allowed the young people to have fun with facilities they may not have at home, but also learn skills that they can carry on with them through life. Some of my responsibilities included ensuring all young people are signed in and out, preparing snacks following Food Hygiene Safety and making sure everyone's dietary needs are met, supervising young people in activities and trips, contacting and informing parents/carer if anything has happened during a session eg an accident, taking part in training days to enhance my knowledge in youth work/working with young people, register new young people, completing admin and dealing with paperwork.
I have also worked at a school supporting students with their social and emotional mental health need from September 2020 to present. Also, to support the students with the completion of their work. On occasion, I had to work on a 1-1 basis with students who required extra support. This would include participating in some off-site lessons. In addition, I would attend briefings to work part of a team to help the day run smoothly, to be informed of any changes in the day and what approaches to take with students to support them. Finally, I would have to keep record of each student in the group I had been set that day. This would include checking that their SMART targets that have been set for them have been achieved that day, marking their uniform, recording a tally of how many warnings they have had about their phone, recording their time in lesson, recording their work effort and recording their behaviour.
I have taken Safeguarding, Disability Awareness and Food Allergy Awareness training. In addition, I have done Forrest School’s and County Lines training.
