my name is Michelle Wells, I am a OFSTED registered childminder and graded outstanding in October 2022 I have over 20 years of childcare experience and have 4 children of my own, aged between 24-32 years old. I have been a childminder since 2012, previously before becoming a childminder I have worked in preschools and crèches. I absolutely love working with and caring for early years children and couldn’t wish for a better job to be doing. I hold the following qualifications; level 3 childcare, learning & development, paediatric first aid, level 2 food hygiene and safeguarding. I work from my home which I share with my husband and is situated in Ipswich IP3 working alongside my assistant Kelsey who is my daughter. Kelsey is 27 years old and has worked in childcare for over 9 years, she holds the following qualifications; level 3 teaching and support learning, childcare GCSEs, paediatric first aid, level 2 food hygiene and safeguarding. Kelsey worked in a primary school 4 years before becoming my assistant in 2021. She has a wide knowledge of teaching and supporting the learning of Early Years children. Kelsey loves working with Early Years children and loves her role in helping children learn and develop new skills each day. Our setting has been open since January 2021 and is called S&K Chilcare. Our daily aim is to always provide our children with a safe, happy, loving and welcoming setting for them to play and learn, we also strive to provide the best care possible for each child in our care and their families. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and 7 key areas of learning and development and we attend regular courses to keep us as updated as possible so we can support your child’s development and learning as effectively as we can. Children have full access to a safe, welcoming and spacious area downstairs in our home, which consists of 2 large playrooms soley used by the children and appropriate toilet facilities are located close to the children’s area for the children to access. The children’s area is fully equipped with fun and exciting learning resources and each day their is new and engaging activities set up for the children to explore to support their development. The children have access to a spacious outdoor area which includes a mud kitchen, construction bench, water play, sand play, a Wendy house and lots of engaging outdoor toys appropriate and accommodating for all ages. We allow the children to feel part of our community by attending regular groups at our local library, visiting parks, gymnastics sessions and so much more. We plan lots of exciting day trips for the children where they can experience using many different forms of transport such as buses and trains to the mansion, museums, beaches, cinema, bowling and lots more. At S&K Childcare we aim to always maintain strong and trusting relationships with parents and their children who attend our setting. We keep parents informed and updated with their child’s progress and development by having daily conversations and written reports where necessary. We offer full time, part time and before and after school care and aim to be as accommodating as possible to support our children and their families. We offer a 4 weekly menu which offers a wide and balanced diet for the children in our care. All food is freshly prepared daily. We are open 8am-6pm Monday-Thursday for 50 weeks of the year (closed 2 weeks at Christmas and bank holidays). It’s impossible to put into words just how much S&K has meant to our family. My son started attending when he was only 7 months old after all of my older children had been looked after by Shelly. from the very beginning he has been loved, cared for as if he were one of their own. So much so that he wakes up asking if it’s a Shelly and Kelsey day and gets upset if it isn’t.
Over the years, they have taken the time to truly get to know him as an individual. They have always embraced his interests, encouraged him, and created activities around the things he loves, he has an interest in maths and they’ve got him fully ready for school in September, he even knows his 3 times tables! It has never felt like “just childcare” it has felt like a second home.
Watching him grow into the confident, happy little boy he is today has been incredible, and so much of that is thanks to the care at S&K. They have done an amazing job preparing him for school.
When he starts school we’ve already agreed to continue to send him in the school holidays as can’t imagine him no longer going. The bonds he has built there are so special and something we will always be grateful for.
Leaving your baby with someone is one of the hardest decisions a parent can make, and I have never had a single doubt that he was safe, happy, and genuinely cared for. We will always be grateful for everything they have done for him and for us as a family. They have played such an important part in his early years, and we feel incredibly lucky to have met them.
There truly aren’t the words for just how special it is there.

Shelley and Kelsey have looked after both of our sons since they were 1 years old. When COVID hit we struggled to find childcare that we were happy with and we are so glad with the decision we made to send our boys to S&K childcare.
Shelley and Kelsey provide the best care, nutritional meals and always go the extra mile.
The setting has a fabulous set up and as an experienced teacher myself believe this is some of the best early childcare provision I have seen. The opportunities that children have on a daily basis are engaging, well thought out and resourced to perfection.
Shelley and Kelsey always go the extra mile to recognise special events throughout the year such as birthdays and different cultural events giving children the opportunity to learn about a variety of occasions.
We would recommend Shelley and Kelsey to anyone that is looking for childcare and cannot thank them enough for the care they have provided for our family.

It is nostalgic to think that 11 years ago, after a negative experience with a different service provider, we were literally “saved” by Michelle’s services. Difficult to explain in words because our family’s set up, our family life has only been possible due to this setting, due to the amazing support of Michelle and Kelsey. The values, care and the attention given to all children is beyond superb. Both of our children attend the setting on a daily basis and I can only say that they feel at home. As parents we are assured that our children are raised with principles of respect, friendship and happiness which are vital for their future. The setting was thought and created with the children in mind, allowing both playing areas as well as development/learning areas (inside and outside activities). Safety and consistency of services has always been a priority of this Childcare, always able to adapt the activities to include all ages. We are humbled to the amazing work of Michelle and Kelsey. We will never be able to properly express our gratitude.

My son has been with Michelle and Kelsey since he was 2 weeks old - he's almost 9 and still with them. That sums it up!! My daughter was with them from the age of 3 until she grew out of the setting.
Michelle is like a second mother to my son. She cares for him as if he's her own. Michelle's home is a home away from home for my son. I simply can't recommend her and Kelsey enough. She's definitely a rare find. It's more than a job for them and you can clearly see how passionate they are about caring for these kids. They pay attention to everything - play time, extra activities outside, meal times and nutrition, and they're culturally sensitive to individual needs. They go above and beyond and they've definitely been a blessing to me and my children.

I cannot begin to express the eternal gratitude I have to these two wonderful ladies for the love and care they have shown to my little boy during his time with them, they are simply amazing they always go above and beyond and nothing is ever too much. I always felt completely at ease dropping my son to them knowing he would be well looked after and he always came out with a massive smile after having such a great time with them. It is impossible to put into words just how grateful we are for the care, love, and support our childminder has given our son over the past eight years.
She has been so much more than a childminder; she has been a trusted, caring, and constant presence throughout his childhood. She has helped him grow in confidence, supported him through important milestones, and always made him feel safe, happy, and valued.
Knowing he was in her care gave us complete peace of mind, and we will always be thankful for the kindness, patience, and dedication she has shown our family.
The positive impact she has had on our son’s life is immeasurable, and we feel incredibly lucky to have shared this journey with her. She will always hold a special place in our hearts.
