I chose Paola after receiving multiple recommendations from local mums and when I visited her place in July, I really liked the atmosphere and people I met. We decided to trust her style and admitted my child for an October start. The settling in period was for one week, 1-2 hours max a day and by the end of the week she said she didn’t feel like he would settle so we would need to extend the settling in period which we agreed to, so then the next week we did 3 hours a day and then she recommended extending it again. He caught something from his time there and was unwell the following week, towards the end she called us in 30 minutes earlier than pick up and said she didn’t believe he could settle in and they did not have the resources to spend anymore time on 20 month old, then proceeded with terminating the contract. It was an absolute shock to the system, considering he was making some progress and also was unwell the week she made her decision. I felt the care providers did not adjust and offer the correct services required for a child who may have needed a bit more attention. Leaving us with no childcare in the end and a feeling of rejection that our child wouldn’t settle in. It was the complete opposite of what we experienced when we met her in July, we trusted that the service we would receive would do all that they can to help care and make the necessary means to help a child settle in. It’s a troubling time for any child but unfortunately it was quite disappointing to have had this experience as a parent.
