My name is Becky (Pembroke avenue childminding) and I am an ofsted registered Childminder based in Shirehampton, with my husband and two young children.
I am a degree qualified early years practitioner with over 15 years experience working in a variety of childcare settings. I like to spend a lot of time out and about and promote outdoor learning and child-led play. I am a big fan of getting crafty and messy play, exploring all of our senses whilst having lots of fun.
I aim to provide a home from home environment which feels safe, caring, warm and is a stimulating environment for children to thrive.
As well as taking part in age appropriate activities following the EYFS at home, we go on outings to the farm, the woods, harbourside, trips on the bus and train and many more adventures.
I feel it is important to work in partnership with parents/carers offering a supportive, collaborative and open relationship in order to ensure every child's needs are met and any relevant information is shared.
My Experience
I have over 15 years experience working in a range of childcare settings and a degree in Early Childhood Studies.
Throughout my three years at University studying Early Childhood Studies BA Hons degree I completed a range of placements at early years settings. The placements included a nursery for children aged eight months to five years, the reception class in a primary school and two special schools for children from five years to ten years with a range of special educational needs. When on placement my role was to complete certain tasks set by the University whilst supporting the children and staff. Each placement provided me with opportunities to develop my skills as an early years practitioner.
After university I worked for Disney Cruise Line as a Youth Activity Counsellor, part of a team of around fifty youth activity counsellors, looking after children aged two and a half to twelve years. My responsibilities as a counsellor involved planning activities and providing a safe and friendly environment for children to come and play.
I have also worked as a deputy manager of a nursery, Au pair in Australia and I have been a nanny for the past ten years. I have also got my own two children so I have plenty of new born experience.

Becky has been looking after my 3 children for the last 18 months and is a highly recommended nanny, we are sorry to lose her as the twins start school. She is incredibly caring, reliable, with a strong work ethic and has absolute understanding of children and their needs. She is fun but sets clear boundaries, loves being outside with the children, teaches through craft and play and cooks lovely healthy meals for the kids and is respectful in the family home.

Becky is a fantastic childminder. Not only is she professional and easy to deal with, but she’s so creative and makes every day an adventure for our daughter. Whether it’s arts and crafts or trips out and about, it has all helped our child grow and become so much more confident. Becky’s knowledge and experience are so valuable and she’s always happy to explain things to us as first-time parents. The setting she has created is perfect for young children with so much to do. She provides healthy and nutritional meals and is excellent at keeping us updated on our daughter throughout the day with pictures and messages. We would happily recommend Becky to anyone looking for a childminder in the West Bristol area. Our daughter loves her Becky days.

Becky is extremely professional and experienced at providing childcare. Our very clingy boy has adapted so well from the age of 1 to attending this childminding setting. Becky made the process of returning to work following maternity leave as least stressful as possible. Becky provides fun, educational and engaging activities, lots of outings, both indoor and outdoor, as well as nutritional meals and snacks in a warm and caring environment. It is so reassuring to know that Louis is in the best possible care. Thank you Becky for your commitment, creativeness and thoughtfulness.

We were Becky’s first childminding family (following her extensive years of professional childcare including nurseries and nannying). She looked after our eldest for 7 months before she went to school and is still looking after our almost 2 year old. She manages to provide an exciting and stimulating environment for children of varying ages. My daughters have both loved taking part in the creative play and crafts Becky organises which she clearly puts a lot of time and thought into! Becky also takes them out on trips to the park, library, and occasionally on the bus. They have both almost always been happy at drop off and both buzzing with all the fun they’ve had at the end of the day. Becky is highly reliable and professional and has responded positively to a couple of requests re: car seats and nap timings for our youngest. She also sends regular updates with lovely photos of all the fun they have had. Thank you Becky for taking such good care of our girls!
