About Me
I love being around children and watching them grow and learn with their endless amounts of energy and fun. I am responsible, incredibly patient, caring and kind. I like to smile and laugh a lot and have a nurturing, gentle temperament.
My Experience
I have 33 years of experience with newborns up to teenagers alike. I have 5 wonderful children (all grown up and flown the nest now) and 3 lovely grandchildren aged 3 months, 20 months and 10 years old.
My Qualifications
Apart from studying ‘Childcare’ at GCSE level at school, my qualifications are gained from the ‘University of Parenthood’! I was also a full time registered childminder for 3 years in my twenties.
My Availability
I work full time (Tuesday - Saturday) in an art gallery in Ambleside. Please call or text me and I will gladly inform you of availability.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £14.00 per hour
£14 per hour plus £1 per hour for every extra child.

We feel incredibly lucky to have found Shirleyann as our babysitter. She has been looking after our daughter since she was 9 months, up to now at 2 years old, and our little one absolutely adores her!
We wholeheartedly recommend Shirleyann to any family looking for a wonderful, trustworthy babysitter. She has become such an important part of our child’s life, and we are so grateful for her care and support!

Shirleyann is our regular babysitter and we highly recommend her. She is great with our primary school age children and they are really comfortable whenever she comes especially as she brings her craft box with her! Shirleyann is very calm, reliable, friendly and experienced. In fact our daughter asked yesterday, ‘when is Shirleyann coming again?’!

Thank you so much for helping us out last minute whilst on holiday in Windemere. The moment I met you I felt totally at ease leaving our sleeping toddler in your care. Your friendly warm, mature personality goes a far way and we wish you were close to where we live to use you all the time 🙏 take care x

We had This lovely babysitter a few times during a stay in the Lake District. She babysat for our two young boys aged 1 and 2. She is very personable, communication before and during babysitting was excellent and our boys were very happy in her company.
What more can you ask for from a childcare professional?! I would have no hesitation in recommending Shirleyann - she’s a natural!

Mpoppins is my daughters new favourite person! She is so friendly and sensitive that my normally shy little girl was very happy to stay with her while me and my husband had some much needed alone time. She was professional from start to finish and I felt comfortable with her straight away. Can't recommend enough.
