Hello, my name is Sophie and me and my husband moved to Edinburgh 2 years ago from Durham. We love it here.
Since the age of 16 I have been a swimming teacher, helping children from the age 3 to be safe and have fun in the water whilst learning a key life skill.
When we moved to Edinburgh I carried this on until last year when I acquired a role as a nursery assistant with a private day nursery. This has given me the skills needed to become a great family nanny with knowledge I can implement throughout the role. I also have experience working children and young people with ASD and ADHD.
I am a kind, creative soul who is passionate about the benefits the great outdoors can have on children and young people. I spend a lot of my spare time exploring new places and think being outside and active can create great learning experiences for children.
My Experience
I have over 10 years experience working with children within various different roles. I began as a swimming teacher teaching children from the age of 3 how to be safe and have fun in water.
Then I moved on to a secondary school working with young people with ADHD and ASD. I planned lessons around social skills, maths and literacy based on their interest and abilities.
When we moved to Edinburgh I acquired a job within a nursery working primarily with children from the age of 12 months. Here, i create daily activities to encourage the children development and ensure they having great fun learning about the world around them.
