Part Time Nanny Job in London Borough Of Bromley
About Me
Mum of 3 children
My Requirements
My husband and I are looking for childcare from September, October or November for our three children: a seven-year-old girl and four-year-old twin boys, who will be starting Reception at our daughter’s school in September.
The role is primarily after-school care (occasional before-school care would be a non-essential bonus). The role is slightly unusual because I am a musician and my working pattern varies from week to week, while my husband has a more predictable 9–5 timetable in central London. Some weeks may require after-school care on five days, while many will be lighter. Over the last seven months of term time, we would have needed an average of around 13 hours per week, with an average of three to four after-school shifts. I expect a similar pattern to continue.
Hours would generally be from 2:30 or 3pm until 7pm, although we are happy to discuss some variation if necessary, for example, finishing at 6:30pm or finding some additional hours.
We would love to find someone able and willing to do this sort of flexible schedule, but we realise that it might be more realistic to find a small pool of people who can be our first port of call for a particular day each week. Therefore, please do get in touch if you are looking for long-term ad-hoc work.
The role would involve collecting the children from school, a ten-minute walk away, preparing or heating up an evening meal, and driving them to after-school activities where needed. The ideal candidate would be flexible, reliable, and able to manage a busy household schedule.
Additionally the ability to undertake some school holiday work would be a great advantage.
There may be the opportunity for occasional evening babysitting, should you be available.
Pay is negotiable.
A DBS check, First Aid qualification and driving licence are essential.
We are an organised, warm family. Core hours would be given well in advance, with any additional last-minute hours offered as soon as my own work commitments arise.
We are based in Orpington, not far from Chelsfield station.
Please do get in touch if you have any questions or are interested in the role or a portion thereof.

Jo is absolutely brilliant! I met her when my firstborn was 9 months old and she helped us to establish a nap routine which completely changed all of our lives. When I became pregnant with twins I knew I wanted to use her amazing services from the very beginning. She stayed with us for the whole year of my twins’ maternity leave and she was absolutely brilliant. My children all love her, and she had so much to offer in terms of advice with routines, feeding, sleeping and also lots of tips to make daily life easier! She’s completely non-judgemental and very respectful of different parenting styles. She also managed to create a sense of calm in an otherwise chaotic house - she was extremely quick to learn how our household works, and was so observant about what went where and how we liked things to be done! If she saw something that needed doing, it would be done! She was also a great emotional support in my times of need.
Rachel and my 2-year-old daughter got on immediately - it was quite remarkable to watch how Rachel put her at ease the moment they met. We found Rachel when our regular childminder was unavailable for a couple of weeks, so used her often over the course of about 10 days. Our daughter was extremely happy - her face lit up at the mention of Rachel, who managed to keep her really occupied and stimulated so she slept brilliantly after their time together. As her parents, we were very impressed with Rachel’s professionalism and we were very confident leaving our daughter in her care. Rachel was always extremely punctual, and her communication with us was exceptional. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Rachel, and very much hope she will be able to look after our children in the future.
