About Me
I moved to Scotland from the Czech Republic six years ago to study at the University of Edinburgh. I first found my way to working with children through youth theatre and have enjoyed it ever since. I find children’s curiosity, energy and imagination inspiring, and I love supporting their confidence, independence and development.
My background in theatre, movement and the arts means I naturally bring creativity into childcare through games, storytelling, crafts, music and imaginative play. I have a calm and patient presence and am comfortable responding to difficult or unexpected situations. Outside work, I am an avid hiker and enjoy spending time outdoors.
My Experience
I have extensive experience caring for children of different ages, alongside housekeeping, meal preparation, school and activity runs, bedtime routines and pet care. Since 2021, I have babysat regularly for families across Edinburgh, caring for babies, toddlers, nursery-age children and older children. I have built long-term relationships with several families and am comfortable taking initiative, planning activities and meals, maintaining routines and adapting to each child’s individual needs.
From 2018 to 2022, I worked at the British Council Summer Camp in Prague, progressing to Chief Monitor. I supervised children aged 6–14, organised sports and games, communicated with parents and teachers, administered first aid and supported children with additional learning needs and autism. Earlier, I volunteered weekly at Prague Youth Theatre with children aged 4–9, helping run games, drama activities and a theatre production. I have also volunteered with the Cinnamon Trust supporting elderly people with pet care, so I am very comfortable around animals.
My more recent training in youth work, child protection, mental health and trauma-informed practice has further strengthened the way I approach children’s wellbeing, communication and safeguarding. Alongside First Aid training, I have completed training in Child Protection, Youth Work, Mental Health First Aid and Trauma-Informed Practice.

My Availability
I am currently available for full-time childcare work, as well as regular part-time arrangements. I can often accommodate short-notice or occasional babysitting.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £15.00 per hour

Fran babysat our baby son (starting at 9 months) a couple times a week for a few hours for several months and now occasionally when we go out in the evenings. (He’s now almost 2.) Fran has been wonderful with our son! He is always full of smiles when she arrives! She is great with kids, but also incredibly reliable and responsible, which was really important for me since he was so young when she started working with us. It was so nice for me to know I could trust her, which set my mind at ease. I’d highly recommend Fran for anyone looking for a babysitter. You’ll be lucky to have her!

It was a first time that our little boy has been cared for by anyone outside the family. Fran was prompt to the appointment and had a calming influence on him. She was able to take over his bedtime routine on arrival and get him to sleep for the night.

Fran worked for us looking after 1 year old Viola just for 3 days in 1 week to help me settle into my new remote job. Fran hadn't worked with children of violas age for a while but she got the hang of nappy changes, feeding solids, holding and comforting Viola very quickly and beautifully.
I loved how gentle and calm her voice was in communicating and playing with my baby, especially as she got to use her native Czech language as Viola is part Czech. She had a natural way of communicating respectfully with Viola, not talking down to her or trying to dominate her. If Fran wanted to work with this age again, I would recommend her.
Fran worked as a nanny in our home, not a childminder so setting and food are illrelevent but I couldn't leave them blank.
