About Me

We're a neurodivergent family of four, recently moved to Hastings from from SE London. Juggling our work in arts and education, with parenting our two autistic children, aged 17 and 13. Both have EHCPs and are currently educated outside of school (EOTAS)

My Requirements

Babysitter
After School Nanny
Part Time Nanny
Special Needs Experience

Hello, we're looking for one or two calm, friendly, flexible and patient people for

- daytime supervision and support at home, or potentially taking our 13 year old out in nature, on trips and to activities, while we work
- evening babysitting so that we can have a break

Initially this we anticipate this would be for 3-6 hours per week in total but are hoping to receive social care funding soon, which would enable us to increase these hours.

Our 13 year old has ADHD and a PDA profile of autism, and has been out of school for several years, following a bad experience at a special school in London. They are thoughtful, active and imaginative, with a good sense of humour, but can become quite anxious when under pressure, and respond well to a low demand, indirect, collaborative style of communication, based around their special interests (which currently include animals, history and making YouTube videos)

We're ideally looking for people who could engage with their interests, play and learn alongside them, while helping to improve their confidence, independence and skills. However, a substantial part of the role is likely to be more about being available to chat / co-regulate when needed, providing snacks, etc., and you might be able to work on your own hobbies while keeping an eye on them!

Specific SEN knowledge / training isn't necessary (and in fact some of the usual autism strategies are not helpful for our younger child), but we are looking for people who are happy to take both a neuro and gender-affirming approach - lived experience is welcome.
