My Requirements

We are looking for help with our 18-year-old son, Dominic. He is autistic and non-verbal. He has a gentle, happy personality. He attends Northern Counties School in Jesmond, where he is in his final year. We would like somebody to pick Dominic up from school at 3:30, then to look after him for two (occasionally three) hours until we get home from work. Although we both work, Maria sometimes works from home, so we have some flexibility as to the days on which we need help. We can offer up to 12 hours a week at £18ph, but this is also negotiable.

In 2022-23, we employed a Northumbria University student. This worked well because she was able to look after Dominic on afternoons when she didn't have lectures/tutorials.

From September 2023 until July 2025, this position was filled by a local, self-employed mother. She has been brilliant but, due to work commitments, she will only be able to continue working for us once a week this academic year.
