My Requirements

We’re looking for a local, reliable, and caring OFSTED-registered childminder or nanny, based near Chilworth or Guildford, to work from our home.

Ideally, we need support 2–3 evenings per week (avoiding Fridays where possible), with the potential for occasional extra days depending on our freelance work schedules. Flexibility is a huge plus but not essential.

Typical routine:
• Collection from after-school club around 5–6pm (preferably 5pm)
• Care for 2–3.5 hours, approximately 2–3 times per week
• Option to set a minimum number of weekly hours if this helps create a more consistent arrangement

We’d love to find someone who can take on this role regularly and build a long-term relationship with our family. However, if that’s not possible right now, we’re also looking for short-term cover from 24 November to 4 February (excluding 20 December – 4 January for the holiday period).

About our child:
Our son is 5 years old, bright, imaginative, and full of energy — though usually winding down after school. He’s happiest coming home, having dinner, and relaxing, but sometimes finds a “second wind” and enjoys music, dancing, or a bit of active play. He’s generally easygoing, cheerful, and quite independent, but also enjoys friendly engagement, conversation, and play.

What the role involves:
• Checking in about his day at school and any small bits of homework
• Preparing or serving his evening meal
• Supporting his bedtime routine
• Settling him to bed (and asleep) by around 8pm if we’re not back yet

There may be times when one of us is working from home in a separate space, so we’d appreciate someone who’s comfortable with that arrangement and confident taking the lead with evening care.

We’re looking for someone warm, dependable, and nurturing, who can create a calm and supportive environment.

Additional details:
• Experience with this age group is preferred
• Having a car would be helpful but not essential — the school is about a 15-minute walk from our home and 2 minutes from the village station
• Additional weekday hours would be increased and can be discussed, for the period between 5 January – 4 February
• After this period late pickups would not be necessary but we can discuss how things could potentially progress
