About Me
My wife Aileen and I are parents to lovely twin boys (Nate and Eddie, 22 months) and baby Benji (9 months). As our full-time nanny is on extended sick leave (and sadly, will be for some time), we’re looking for the right person to join us, to help us look after the boys.
We enjoy doing different activities with the boys and watching them grow. Each is at an exciting stage of life - seeing their love for fun and rapid development is rewarding and brings us lots of joy! That said, being outnumbered, we also recognise that we work best as a three-person childcare team.
We’re based in Radlett - 1 train stop from St Albans (6min) and 2 stops from Harpenden (12min). We’re a short walk from the station, and a nanny car is available for taking the children to activities/ their local nursery.
My Requirements
We are looking for childcare support on a part-time, live-out basis. For the right candidate, we would consider extending the role to full-time.
From now until September, we have 3 boys at home 2.5 days a week; on nursery days, we only have our youngest at home. My wife is a hands-on mum on maternity leave during this period, and so childcare would be on a shared-care basis. For part-time candidates, as our ‘pinch points’ are Tuesdays, Wednesdays (and to a lesser extent) Fridays, those are the days we’re looking to prioritise childcare support.
From October onwards, all 3 boys will attend nursery part-time. We’ve structured their enrolment to ensure there will either be 1 or 2 children home each day (not 3!). Accordingly, we don’t expect the number of childcare hours to decrease.
We’re looking for a nanny with a passion for creating a happy, stimulating environment for children, who enjoys watching children develop through creative play. The older boys particularly are at an age where they see the world with wonder and thrive in positive engagement, and this is something we’d like to continue to encourage. We’re also seeking someone with experience with babies (9+ months). Help with baby-related housework would also be appreciated (this may differ for full vs part-time candidates, but may include baby laundry and cooking, or even just watching our youngest while mum cooks for the boys).
Availability for occasional evening/weekend work not essential but would be a bonus.

Reviews I've Written

Colin had previously babysat our twin boys and hadn’t seen them for a while as we got used to going out less following the arrival of our youngest boy.
Despite this, our elder boys immediately felt comfortable with him and began babbling about ‘Colin’ despite the fact they weren’t even verbal last time he met them. This is a testament to how relaxed he makes children feel
Our youngest baby isn’t as used to strangers, but Colin doesn’t let that phase him and remains a calm and relaxing presence
I would highly recommend Colin to parents needing a night off from the kids!

Thank you for another lovely review. I enjoy coming to look after the boys.
Colin babysat our 8 month old twin boys one Friday evening, when we had our first night out sans kids in months.
He has a gentle, calming approach which I really appreciate (doesn’t overexcite them), and it was clear the boys felt very comfortable with him. The boys are mobile and too young to listen, so managing them was no mean feat!
In addition to looking after them while they played, Colin also changed and bottle-fed them, and put the boys to bed. He also let us know how the boys were doing as the night went on, which was really great.
This was the first time Colin had looked after our children, but he took such wonderful care of them that we’re already planning our next outing!
