My Experience

St Gerard’s Primary school
Teaching assistant
I worked here as a classroom teaching assistant
and also on a 1-1 support basis working with children with additional needs. This job
has given me a lot of strengths and taught me skills through teaching children with a
wide range of learning disabilities.

October 2023 - December 2023
Meadow View Primary
Teaching assistant
I worked here for six months as a Y5/6 teaching assistant, running my own
intervention and bespoke groups and was in charge of my own groups on school
trips. Whilst at Meadow view, Every Tuesday we attended staff meetings with new
CPD to complete each week. I helped and supported inside the classrooms as well
as outside on the yard at breaks and dinner.

June 2024 - November 2024
Aughton Junior Academy
Teaching assistant
Here I was a temporary teaching assistant helping and supporting both children and
teachers in classrooms and around the school. I also worked on a 1-1 basis with
children with additional needs. My duties with children with additional needs meant
being creative and quick on my feet, ensuring learning is enjoyable and also
engaging. I bring my own materials from home including games and techniques too.

January 2025 - July 2025
their own learning preferences. I was responsible for supporting different classes
moving between foundation stage up to year 4’s on a weekly timetable. Here, I was
responsible for having my own groups on school trips and running my own
afterschool club with netball/basketball as my chosen activity. My role involved
great commitment, meaning early starts when needed, keeping up with all new
CPD and making my own learning materials and provision.

Rotherham Parents Carer Forum
July 2025 - August 2025
SEND Child worker
In the summer holidays, I worked alongside with the Rotherham Parents Carers Forum, working in
HAF camps supporting children from 4-15 with SEND helping them with activities and helping them to
engage in their learning. All the materials were provided by the staff. We held this at Parkgate astros
meaning the children had a variety of choices whether to play football or the games and activities
inside the building. Here I had to maintain the children’s safety, help them with P/C, eating, playing and
communicating. I used many different methods of provision such as communication cards, creating my
own games and using my own techniques to keep the children regulated.

Paula Wilson’s childminding
February 2022 - August 2025
Assistant
I have worked with Paula on and off since I was 18.
I volunteered here as Paula is my partner’s mother helping on a basis supporting
children from 6 Months to 12 years. Playing, supervising, and interacting with the
children gave me the confidence to work with children and to pursue this as my
future career. As a registered Childminding Assistant, I have responsibility for dealing
with all parents at hand over and collection of their children. Personal care and
support, as well as providing a warm loving and friendly environment that all the
children can thrive in. I enjoy creating a fun way for the children to engage in their
learning both child and adult led enjoying indoor and outdoor experiences. I do
school drop offs and pick up, safeguarding the children and creating a fun way for
the children to engage in their learning. I have also just received my suction training
on children who are peg fed.
I have been accepted to work full time with Paula and her childminding business, and worked 30 hours
Monday- Thursday supporting children in her setting. However, I left this job as I was a victim of
domestic and verbal abuse.
