Full Time Nanny With Special Needs Experience Job In Wavendon
About Me
We have a 4 year old boy with SEN needs who is non verbal (although not autistic) and currently attends Simpson School full time. We also have an energetic 8 year old boy who loves being outside and is into pretty much every activity you can think of. Our household is busy and full of energy, so the right person will be able to keep up with both boys and bring plenty of positive energy to the role. As parents, we make sure we are home for reading time and key moments; we’re looking for extra support around us so that we can be fully present with the children. You should have a good sense of playful fun and joy, balanced with clear structure, boundaries and strong organisation.
My Requirements
We are a warm, friendly family looking for an experienced, caring SEN nanny (or nanny with lots of childcare experience and an interest in SEN) to support our child and family routine. We’re hoping to find someone calm, patient and reliable, who genuinely enjoys spending time with children and can fit naturally into family life.
During term time, the core hours are Monday to Thursday, 07:00–09:00, with an additional 13:30–19:00 on Thursdays, and we can offer extra hours on Fridays by mutual agreement. During school holidays, we require full day cover from 08:00–18:00, Monday to Friday. The overall hours will be prorated across the year so that pay is averaged out over 12 months. The role includes around three overnight stays per year to cover events and special occasions (such as anniversaries), which will always be arranged in advance. Once a year, we would like our nanny to travel with us on a one week family holiday; all related travel and accommodation costs will be covered.
Day-to-day responsibilities include providing nurturing, consistent childcare, supporting our child’s individual (including SEN) needs, doing school runs as needed, and planning engaging activities. Light household duties are required, such as washing and ironing children’s clothes, keeping children’s areas tidy, cooking simple healthy family meals and organising the weekly food shop. We have an 11 year old spaniel called Hubert, so you need to be ok with dogs and comfortable having one in the home.
We’d love to hear from you if you have strong childcare experience, are organised and proactive, are happy with light housework and family cooking, and can commit reliably to the hours above.
