About Me
Hi, my name is Carla and I am a parent of a 9-year-old daughter. I was born in South Africa and moved to Canada when I was 17 and remained in Canada until last October when I moved to the UK. I am an Early Childhood Educator as well as a Youth Worker. I work for Sheffield City Council as a Teaching Assistant at a SEND training college, so I have experience with a variety of students who require additional help with their needs.I am funny, witty, patient, and outgoing. I strive to ensure that children learn through fun and positive engagement.
My Experience
I have taken care of infants, children, and youth. I am trained as an Early Years Teacher and graduated with honors; I am a Youth Care Worker currently finishing my BA in Child and Youth Studies. I am certified in Emergency Level C CPR and First Aid. I have also completed my Level 2 in Counselling. I will be UK Tutor Trained by the end of July 2023. I facilitate Functional Skills in English and Maths once a week at the college I work for (16+). My education and experience have provided me with a strong foundation to teach Social and Emotional Development and Skills to children and youth that may need extra guidance.
