About Me
I am a new UK inhabitant from South Africa and I am excited about immersing myself in the UK culture.
I have a degree in music, art and drama education as well as an Honours Degree with specialisation in English. I am passionate about educating children and I believe the first years are fundamental to their growth and development.
I have two young children of my own and I would love for them to meet new families and make friends through being a childminder.
I believe that learning is a lifelong process and should be encouraged from a very young age. The best way for children to learn is through play in their natural environment. I enjoy creating activities for children where they can be active participants in the creative process. These activities include floor painting, where they can crawl or walk around on paper to create masterful artwork (with homemade and food safe paint of course!), and making their own music instruments, to be used in 'band' practice.
I have a passion for cooking and baking and I find it a treat to cook healthy meals with a fun twist such as making a sandwich look like a tractor or fruit look like a caterpillar. My children love to be a part of the cooking and baking process and it is also an important way for them to learn about healthy food.
My Experience
I was a teacher in South Africa for 17 years. I taught creative arts - music, art and drama - as well as English as a first language. I have experience in tutoring a range of children of different ages after school in various subjects.
I am new to the concept of being a childminder, but as a hands on mother to my two busy boys, I am well equipped and will add value to your child's development.
My Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts degree in music, art and drama
Honours Degree with specialisation in English Studies.
Early Years course for childminding
Pediatric first aid course
DBS check completed
My Availability
I am available to work between 10 and 11 hours every weekday (50 to 60 hours per week).
