About Me
At Mini Explorers Childcare, we provide a safe, nurturing, home-from-home environment where children can explore, learn and thrive through engaging activities and exciting outings that support early development.
We are Hayley and Emma, two childminders working together from Hayley’s home in Strensall, York. Hayley is a mum of three with hands-on experience caring for children of all ages, including newborns, and understands the importance of reliable, high-quality childcare. Emma is a qualified Primary Education teacher (3–7) with excellent knowledge of the EYFS and experience across nurseries and schools in York.
We are passionate about supporting children’s independence and their personal, social and emotional development, while encouraging a life-long love of learning through our exciting, play-based curriculum.
A big part of our approach is outdoor learning — we spend as much time as possible learning through our days out, exploring the world around us and giving children rich, real-life experiences.
My Experience
As a mum of three and having previously worked 12-hour shifts myself, I understand how important it is to find a high-quality, reliable childminder who can accommodate different working patterns. I provide a nurturing, home-from-home environment where children feel happy, secure and supported, while working towards the seven areas of learning within the EYFS curriculum.
Child-led and free play is encouraged, alongside planned themes, activities and outings each month to support children’s development in a fun and engaging way.
With my own three children (aged 4, 8 and 13), I have a wealth of experience caring for children of all ages, including newborns. I also home educate my 8-year-old two days a week, which further strengthens my understanding of children’s individual learning styles and development.
I have always had a passion for childcare and education and have gained valuable experience over the years, allowing me to provide high-quality, attentive care tailored to each child.
Working alongside me is Emma, a qualified Primary Education teacher (3–7), who brings a strong understanding of the EYFS framework and development matters. Emma has completed placements in nursery, reception and Year 1, and has worked as a supply teacher across a range of schools and early years settings in York.
Together, we are passionate about supporting children’s independence, nurturing their personal, social and emotional development, and creating a love of learning through play, exploration and meaningful experiences.

My Availability
I open Mon- Thurs 7.30am-5.30pm
I currently have a space Monday- Wednesday available for a child aged 10 months up to age 3.
My Fees
- Childminding from £6.50 per hour
Fees
-£6.50 per hour for paid hours (7:30am – 5:30pm)
-Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included within paid hours
Funded Places
-Government funding is accepted
-Meals are charged separately at a small additional fee
Availability & Holidays
-Open all year round
- I take approximately 5 weeks holiday per year, with dates shared well in advance to support families with planning
