My Summary
About Me
Hi! My name is Daisy, Currently I live in Selly Oak where I study BSc Geography at the University of Birmingham. I enjoy sports and hiking especially in the Peak District near where I live during the holidays. I’m a very creative person and I enjoy lots of arts and crafts such as drawing, crochet and sewing. I enjoy looking after children and helping them discover the world by helping them try new activities and sharing my interests. I have worked with children in many previous roles and find it to be a highly fun and rewarding experience!
Having recently done GCSE and A-Level I would be suited to tutor children (especially primary and early secondary) in Maths/English and French.
My Experience
This summer (2023) I spent 6 weeks working for an English Language summer school for European children in Sussex. I worked as an Activity leader which involved delivering afternoon sessions in sport, crafts and other activities. I also had a responsibility for the children’s welfare outside of activities including dealing with illness, injuries and wellbeing.
I hold a first-aid qualification in Emergency first aid which includes Child CPR, and anaphylaxis . I have completed a level 3 sports leadership with children course which required practical experience of leading sessions of various sports, but also how to deal with potentially challenging behaviour and health and safety/risk assessment. During the course I worked with children between the ages of 4-10. I found it a very useful course as it taught me sports skills as well as responsibility, leadership and thinking on my feet to engage children. My other childcare experience is babysitting. Since my youngest brother was 4 I have regularly looked after my younger siblings, mostly after school or on the evening as I come from a single parent family. I would cook dinner, play with them and help with homework. I also babysat my cousin when he was 2-4 occasionally.
My Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in sports leadership which involved learning how to create engaging sporting activities for children, and also how to risk assess activities to make sure any potential hazards are minimised.
- Valid Emergency first-aid course which covered Child and adult CPR, anaphylaxis and choking.
- Clean enhanced DBS check (June 2023).
- Online Ihasco Safeguarding Training.
Adittionally I have 11 GCSEs at grade 8 and above and have taken A-Levels in Maths, Biology, Geography and French in which I achieved AAAA, I am currently working towards my first degree.
