My Requirements

I am looking for a kind, patient and reliable SEN nanny/support worker to care for my 9-year-old son, who is autistic and non-verbal.

He requires 1:1 supervision and full personal care, including support with toileting, changing and cleaning. He can occasionally smear faeces, so I need someone who is comfortable and experienced with this and able to deal with it calmly and hygienically.

I would ideally like someone with experience supporting autistic/non-verbal children with higher support needs who is confident caring for him independently.

The role would include:

* Providing 1:1 care and supervision
* Toileting, changing and personal care
* Managing occasional smearing and cleaning him when necessary
* Preparing/giving simple meals and snacks
* Playing and engaging with him
* Taking him out to parks, activities and days out
* Keeping his areas tidy and helping with light child-related household tasks

When out, he uses a special-needs buggy, mainly because he does not like walking longer distances and it also helps to keep him safe and settled if he starts running around, which can happen sometimes. He generally enjoys going out, but as his behaviour can occasionally be unpredictable, I need someone who is confident, attentive and able to respond calmly if an unexpected situation occurs and make sure he remains safe.

Preferably, I am looking for someone who drives and has access to their own car and would be comfortable taking him out to parks, activities and days out. You would need to be confident managing him safely when out in the community and using his special-needs buggy when needed.

Initially, I would spend some time with you and my son so you can get to know him and his routine. Once everyone is comfortable, I would like you to be able to care for him independently at home and take him out.

I am looking for someone trustworthy, caring and confident who could ideally become a regular, long-term person in his life.

SEN/autism experience and an enhanced DBS are strongly preferred.
