Nanny in Newbury
My Summary
About Me
I am a mum of 2 children, a son who has just turned 20 and a daughter who is about to be 15. Up until about 5 years ago I was lucky enough to be able to be a full-time mum to my children. As someone who loves to be busy, I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of being a full-time mum and continue to enjoy watching and supporting my children grow and develop into young independent adults.
As well as being a full-time mum to my children, during this time, I was also the ‘nanny’ to my 3 nieces, who at the time were 12, 6 and 3. The job was a mix between shared and sole charge and included school drop offs and pick-ups, organising activities after school, trips to the park, helping with homework, cooking evening meals, supervising bath time and bedtime routines. I enjoyed running around with 5 children in tow and finding fun and entertaining activities for us all to do together.
5 years ago, I started a job that fitted around my children’s needs, but it was never my long-term plan to have a desk job, it was just what worked with family life at the time and it has provided me with the flexibility to continue with the school runs and be at home when my children are.
Now my children are older and more independent, I am excited to be able to return to a role that I know and love that will be both rewarding and fulfilling, caring and nurturing children and being a part of their development.
Having run the family home, as well as being a mum for the last 20 years, I understand that no two days are the same. The ability to multi task, be flexible and adapt to change and yet patient, calm and caring at the same time are skills that have become second nature to me. I understand the challenges of juggling work commitments and children and the importance of being a family within a busy household.
Taking on the responsibility of being a nanny again is a passion that I have been so keen to be able to pursue. I found it to be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling, but most of all fun. I consider myself to be a warm, friendly person who is reliable, trustworthy and caring. I thrive on being busy, love to spend time outdoors and will always go the extra mile to do a good job.
I have lived in the area with my family, including our ever-growing number of pets, for the past 15 years so I am familiar with the local surroundings, parks and nature reserves, leisure centres and schools. I am a confident driver having held a full driving licence for over 30 years so I am more than capable of running around as part of a busy family and all the demands that brings.
My Experience
For nearly six years I have been working for a student accommodation management company. My role has varied over this time, starting as a part-time contacts administrator to my most recent position as the full-time compliance manager. In my current role I am expected to prioritise my own work and it is my responsibility to juggle hundreds of property compliance requirements and processes in a timely manner and within company guidelines. As part of a team, I am also involved in managing project administration for new student accommodation refurbishment projects. My role is varied, requiring flexibility, organisation and an ability to multi-task whilst working with a range of team members at different levels of seniority.
Prior to this job, I was a full-time mum to my two children. A role that I found to be more rewarding than I would ever have imagined. Working at Campbell Property has given me the flexibility to work around my children’s needs, however I love interacting with people more than computers. I am excited to be taking the next step in my career to return to caring and nurturing children and being a part of their development as they grow.
When I moved to Wiltshire with my husband twenty years ago, I took on the role of 'nanny' to my niece, then four, for about a year until my son was born. We spent our time together going to a variety of clubs including music, gym and swimming. I spent many an hour pretending to be somebody or something in role-play games. We also had a lot of fun and made a lot of mess doing art and craft activities. Taking the dog for a walk was also a great pastime, as we would always find something to explore and come back with lots of treasures. During this time I often helped out a friend, looking after her daughter overnight when necessary.
My daughter was born just as my son started school, so I was fortunate enough to be able to spend quality time with her, just as I had done with my son. We were able to enjoy lots of activities together and have one-on-one time. When my daughter was one, I again became 'nanny', this time for my other nieces, then six and three.
Before I had children I worked in both retail and banking mainly in the role of customer services. In my role as Customer Service Manager, I was responsible for the operational and staff management of the branch at Bristol and West and as Section Manager at John Lewis my responsibilities were for the management of the department and ensuring staff were motivated to achieve targets.
I feel I can offer a great deal of experience gained from being a fulltime mum along with the experiences I have had in my 'nanny' roles. I consider myself to be a very caring, nurturing and loyal person and someone who can be trusted.
