My Requirements

We’re a busy, loving family of five looking for a kind, down-to-earth and non-judgemental person who would be happy to get stuck into family life and become a trusted extra pair of hands.

We have three boys aged 15, 10 and almost 2. Our eldest two have additional needs, including autism and ADHD, but their personalities and needs are polar opposites! Our 10-year-old in particular can need a lot of support, and family members have found it difficult to manage his needs. We’re therefore looking for someone with genuine SEND experience who is calm, patient, confident and has excellent emotional self-regulation. Someone who can remain steady when things are challenging, understand what is behind behaviour and build a trusting relationship with each child would be invaluable.

With upcoming operations, I’m hoping to find someone who can occasionally take over and give us some much-needed respite. This could mean taking the younger two out for a few hours, helping with activities and routines, or simply stepping in wherever we need support. A little light housework or mother’s help would also be hugely appreciated, particularly while I’m recovering.

We’re getting married in December, so we would also love some help around the wedding, potentially including the evening or overnight on our wedding night. We’re also hoping to have a honeymoon, so if we manage to persuade our family to help with childcare, having an experienced extra pair of hands to support them could make all the difference! After the wedding, we’d love to have someone we trust for occasional babysitting and general respite so my partner and I can enjoy some time together.

We also have a very lovable Flat-Coated Retriever and two cats, so being comfortable around animals is important. Our pets are very much part of the family!

We don’t think we are looking for fixed hours at this stage, more ad-hoc support and someone flexible who could become a familiar, reliable and genuinely valued asset to our family circumstances. We’d love to find someone who enjoys children of all ages, has a good sense of humour, is happy to muck in and can offer practical support without judgement.

Being able to accept funded childcare hours would be a huge bonus, although we’re happy to discuss what might be possible.
