My Summary
About Me
**No longer looking for a position**
A compassionate, energetic, creative, adventurous and nurturing individual with over 4 years’ experience working with children and families; both as a Nanny and as an Early Years Practitioner. Qualification of Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) gained and Montessori trained.
I incorporate a Montessori approach when caring for children. I believe children should be given the freedom to learn at their own pace, make their own choices and learn from their mistakes. I give children the opportunity to foster their independence (providing choices to developing children’s self care skills), and to take lead in their play, alongside inspiring them with new knowledge and ideas. I enjoy setting up inspiring environments that supports children’s needs and interests which includes:
Holistic health: mindfulness (yoga, sensory activities), emotional literacy (I love The Colour Monster book), physical health (using our senses to learn about healthy foods and their importance), and physical activities (creating obstacles courses, climbing, ball activities and a hike around the local park).
Self expression: makaton, arts and crafts (I focus on the process rather than the product), phonics (Doodle Dance), and expressive arts (music and dance).
Community: environmentalism (feeding the ducks, gardening, reusing materials for play setups, nature scavenger hunt), community trips (supporting local events/ classes), and learning about diversity and different cultures.
I also love to plan cooking activities as well as encouraging children to prepare some of their own meals/ snacks- pitta pizza, banana bread, peeling and slicing their own fruit/ vegetable- Delicious!
My Experience
My superpowers are creativity, nurturing and being imaginative. I am currently a part time nanny looking after a toddler (2.5 years old) who I have cared for since he was 10 months (full time). I have also nannied for infants too (<1). From this, I have built positive relationships with all my employers to which I still keep in contact with via babysitting/ ad hoc.
My main responsibilities include, supporting care routine, spontaneous to planned outings, arranging play dates, play setups in alignment with the child’s interest and development, and extending and reinforcing learning through play. My previous childcare experience includes working in a Montessori nursery as an Early Years Practitioner.
My main responsibilities includes: ensuring each child reach their full potential; following a curriculum that is equally unique and bespoke to each child which is supported by enriched, challenging, and developmental experiences, building positive relationships with parents/carers, looking after children's physical health and being mindful of safeguarding guidelines. My experience is predominately based on working with toddlers and babies, however, I have also supported children with SEN and reception aged children with phonics and maths too
