Hello, my name is Sophie Jackson and I am 25 years old.
I started my childcare career at a forest school; this has shaped me into the practitioner I am today, and I am very passionate about this style of learning.
I love to be outside, getting stuck into activities while, getting covered in the mud alongside the children and learning through fun and engaging activities.
I am a true believer that there is no inappropriate weather!
I will often be seen jumping in muddy puddles, dancing in the rain, and playing in the snow alongside the children I care for.
My unique approach has been developed by my many years working in outdoor settings and as a forest school lead myself.
I encourage using forest school tools, making fires and risk taking; allowing children to create their own magical experiences.
I have experience working for multiple children a day, while supporting each of their individual needs and supporting a healthy lifestyle.
I have an exceptional understanding of safeguarding and how to ensure I'm providing a safe service from my experience as a deputy manager.
I have also worked as a carer where we provided specialist care and support for individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs, which may have included challenging behaviours. Working at a residential care home I developed fundamental skills and attributes that have ensured a high level of care and understanding for supporting others with learning disabilities.
My Experience
I have worked in childcare for 9 years and have a Level 3 qualification. I love my job and love teaching through my knowledge of forest school and using outdoor real-life experiences to support children's learning while, allowing them to meet their full potential.
I have worked as a Deputy manager of a setting, that provides children with 15 acres of land and animals.
I am on the DBS up to date service, Paediatric first aid trained, level 3 safeguarding, level 2 food hygiene and have a certificate in incisive Communication Universal Training for Early years practitioners.
I have worked in a variety of settings and services allowing me to build a variety of skills and knowledge.
My Qualifications

I have completed many online courses these include: Handling difficult conversations with parents, Introduction to EYFS 2021, maths and literacy in early years, online safety, outdoor provision, physical development, professional boundaries in the work environment, providing challenging activities Risky play, messy play and superheroes, think green, biting in early years, encouraging positivity behaviour, food allergy awareness, food safety and hygiene level 2, speech and language.
I have also completed many online safeguarding courses these include: witchcraft, breast ironing, female genital mutilation and the Prevent duty and British values.
