About Me
I am a newly registered childminder in Ferndown, offering before and after school care for the children at Parley First School. I was a Primary school teacher for over 15 years, so I have a good deal of experience with young children. I am also a Mum to two lovely children who attend Parley First School.
I am offering spaces in our warm, comfortable and welcoming home to small groups of children, aged from Year 1 and upwards. I aim to provide a home-from-home experience, with an emphasis on individual care. We have lots of fun and educational toys, games and activities to choose from, as well as an enclosed garden for outdoor fun. Our house is located a 5 minute walk from the school, so drop offs and pick ups will be on foot.
Hours can be flexible to suit your needs. I will also be offering part-time holiday care during school holidays.
My Experience
I trained as a Primary School teacher after completing my BSc honours degree in Psychology in 2002. I have worked across a variety of year groups, ranging from Reception to Year 6. I have taught abroad (Thailand and Australia) and I have also worked as a Special Needs support teacher.
I left full-time teaching to have my own children in 2015 and have since returned as a supply teacher and then a part-time Special Needs Tutor, before re-locating to Dorset in 2021. I decided to re-train as a childminder in 2022 and am now fully OFSTED registered, with training completed in childminding, safeguarding, First Aid and food hygiene. I am also fully DBS checked.

11 GCSEs and 4 A-Levels
BSc (Hons) Degree in Psychology (2:1)
PGCE in Primary Education
Level 5 OCR Diploma in teaching children with Specific Learning Disorders, e.g. Dyslexia
TESOL Certificate for Teaching English as a Second Language

DBS checked
Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering from Virtual College

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
£6 an hour
10% sibling discount
All snacks and activities included in hourly rate.
Extra charge for meals:
Breakfast = 50p per child per day
Lunch (for holiday care) = £1 per child per day (children are also welcome to bring their own packed lunch)
Hot dinner = £1.50 per child per day
