Nanny in Cookham Rise
My Summary
About Me
Hi, I'm 23 and live in Cookham, Berkshire. I graduated from university in Bristol two years ago with a degree in Criminology, and I currently work for a domestic abuse charity, supporting people through challenging situations.
Alongside my current role, I've built up several years of experience working with children. I worked part-time in a nursery throughout university and then full-time for a year afterwards, caring for children aged 1–4. I've also regularly babysat over the years and have helped with children's yoga and mindfulness workshops run by my mum during school holidays.
I really enjoy spending time with children and supporting their development. One of my favourite things is listening to their stories and ideas, as every child has such a unique personality and perspective. I also love seeing children grow in confidence, learn new skills, and become more independent.
My current work has strengthened my communication, empathy, and patience, and I'm particularly interested in developing a career that involves supporting children and young people in the future. Families would describe me as caring, reliable, responsible, and approachable, and I always aim to create a safe, positive, and engaging environment for children.
My Experience
I have extensive experience caring for children across different settings. I worked in a nursery for around four years in total, initially part-time alongside my studies and then full-time (Monday to Friday, 9–5) after graduating. I mainly worked in the toddler room with children aged 2–3, but I also gained experience across other age groups within the nursery.
My responsibilities included supporting children with indoor and outdoor play activities, helping with learning and development through structured and free play, and ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times. I was also responsible for personal care duties such as changing nappies, supporting mealtimes, preparing and giving bottles, and settling children for naps.
During my time in the nursery, I also gained experience supporting children with additional needs, working alongside the SENCO to help ensure children received appropriate support and care within the setting.
Alongside my nursery experience, I have regularly babysat for children aged 2–10, including within my own family, which has involved caring for children in the home environment, including feeding, bedtime routines, and general supervision.
I also volunteered with a Brownies group for around five months as part of my Duke of Edinburgh Award, supporting group activities and helping to supervise and engage children in sessions. In addition, I have assisted my mum, who runs children’s yoga and wellbeing workshops, helping to support and engage children during holiday sessions for primary school-aged children.
Overall, I am confident in caring for children of different ages and supporting both their daily needs and their development in a safe, caring, and engaging environment.
